Question Latest good movies

I need suggestions. I want to rent a couple of DVDs but have no ideas. Please, tell me about some recent movies you liked. If possible, no super-heroes or super-powers, I'm tired of them lately

What she said, that movie was great. Some things I didn't like about it (always picky about game to movies) but it was still great.

I also suggest this movie to everyone, go see Se7en. It's a fantastic movie and is in my top ten everybody needs to see this movie at least once, it's fantastic.

movies eh?... well i happen to work IN a movie store.

poseiden or however you spell it just came out... that was pretty good *where the ship gets hit by the wave and is upside down and blah blah blah*
silent hill just came out... i liked it... good movie.
ummm... the matador with pierce brosnan... kindof dry humor but its funny.. basically he's a hitman who is losing his edge and cant kill people anymore.. .meets a salesman and its funny......
the hills have eyes... very graphic and 'disturbing'... but check it out if you liked movies that are gorey/scary....
lord of war- nicholas cage.. very good movie.. about gun running and stuff... i love it personally.
stay away from 'scary movie 4'... was aweful... i wanted to throw myself out the window after how horrible it was...
V for Vendetta... amazing film.. amazing story.. natalie portman...hugo weaving... this is one i reccomend to everyone who comes in.. sure its a type of comic book movie.. but it is very good... watch it. go on.. stop reading now.. watch it.

Last good movie was Lady Vengeance, by Park Chan-wook. Not as good as Oldboy, though it is focused on the same themes. Anyway, one of the best things I could watch on DVD in the last few weeks.

Well, let's see...

Citizen Kane: Okay, I know this is a really old film that no one would care about, but I had to see this for my summer film class (even though I had always wanted to see it but never got the chance). I really like this film...typical rags-to-riches story with touches of mystery, Americanism/American dream, but it's so elegant, bittersweet, and beautiful to look at.

8 1/2: Also from my film class, this Italian film directed by Federico Fellini is...uh...interesting. Originally called "The Beautiful Confusion", I really have to say that it is what it is. I don't like the film, but there's something about it that lingers in your mind afterwards. So, I would say the film is intoxicating. Just be warned, you're in for a very drawn-out and messy film about filmmaking.

Hmm...that's it. I'm not very helpful, I'm sorry.

Thanks, they're both very interesting movies, I know Citizen Kane, and I had the chance to watch some of the Fellini movie you are talking at school, but with latest I meant most recent. Sorry if it was confusing

I saw "Creep" yesterday, quit a good horror flick IMO. Some bits good, some bits bad but overall one of the better horror flicks lately(doesn't say much with all the garbage coming out though).

Has anybody else seen The Jacket? Adrian Brody plays a man convicted of murder, found insane, and "treated" in a mental hospital for the criminally insane. Look for it. Its one of my personal favorites and Adrian Brody is one of the best actors alive.

Citizen Kane is a great classic. I feel irritated when someone says "There's no way I can watch it, it's old and b/w and the actors are unknown to me." I could strangle people with this kind of ignorant attitude, grrr!

8 1/2 is harder to digest for the average viewer. It's nothing like a movie with a defined plot and clear conclusion. It's a beautiful vision, a work of art about art itself - and the difficulties art implies.

These are great choices. A thread also about old movies would be more fun, at least it would give more options
