I haven't been able to go to watch a movie very often lately. I was wondering which movies are you looking forward too see the most at this moment and why. Also movies you'd like to rent in the next period of time. I really haven't been able to follow or keep an eye on new stuff, and regarding older stuff, I also didn't think much about it. But I feel this great desire to watch a cool movie, so I'm asking to people who probably had more time for these things and could could give me good ideas

Im not quite sure what is coming up this fall, yet, but there will be a few offerings, especially towards the holidays, i think the comedy with Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis may be fun. Oh, if you get the chance, check out the movie Hero, its absolutely fabulous, i give it a 9 out of a possible 10, best movie ive seen this year... and Collateral was quite good also... there will be a few rentals, but nothing noteworthy...

Hmm... I can't wait until Howl's Moving Castle gets over here, but I should imagine I'll have to wait until next year or later, and then it'll be a really limited release anyway. I'm kind of hoping that the Cambridge arts theatre will show The Cat Returns at christmas time (it was on at the film festival this year, but I had rehearsals for the school play )... Perhaps i'll go and see Innocence and Steamboy if they ever get releases... Aside from that, i've no idea what films are going to be on at the cinema. I only ever seem to get the inspiration to go when something truely crap is on! (no idea what the last film I saw was, can't have been much good ^^)

I saw Super Size Me yesterday and that was pretty great, but I'm not really looking forward to much. Well, the trashy part of my mind is looking forward to seeing Hellboy tomorrow but there is nothing much on my radar.

I saw Resident Evil: Apocalypse yesterday... and since I wasn't expecting much, I wasn't too dissapointed. It had some good moments...

Other movies I want to see?
- The Grudge
- Décadence ( Don't know the title in english! )
- Spider-Man 3 ( I know, I know... )

... and some others that I can't think of right now...

Ugh, I dislike this movie so very much. I saw it so long ago when it was first released in Asia (I believe I made a thread on it back then too) and it's so irritating how critics now are giving it "5 out of 5" stars because "it's a visual piece of work". Well, if visuals are everything then I guess story doesn't matter anymore...oh wait, story doesn't matter anymore, I forgot. And once again, like "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" ridiculous wire-work that make the characters fly around like Superman (I mean, what's wrong with making them leap around but not really fly like a bird?) really is such a turnoff to me. I have no problem against people who like it, I just personally don't care for it.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to that as well. Also, I'm kinda looking forward to the movie version of Lemony Snicket's "Unfortunate Events" book series. I hope it's good.

Visually its beautiful, without a doubt, and i actually like the story and the twists. Its kinda predictable, but then again at the end its really not, and the special effects (not the flying around on wire), but the arrows and some of the other abilities were spectacular. I still give it a thumb way up, i watched Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and thought it was pretty good, but liked this even more...

I absolutely love the so-called wire-fu movies, kung-fu mixed with fantasy elements does the trick for me.

@Goodman check out The Evil Cult(aka kung-fu cult master) for some excellent wire-fu fantasy action(a bit ridiculious at times but very entertaining at least).

I saw RE: Apocaylpse. As you all know me being a huge RE fan thought this movie was ok. As Qjij_jijQ said there were good moments but I still felt something was missing. Based on RE 3 , there were parts missing. I know they cant put everything in but I just dont know. It was better than the first I have to say.

I haven't seen Resident Evil Apocolypse yet but i'm planing on seeing it soon. I loved the last one and since its the second one i have to see how things turn out, but i'm also looking forward to seeing Hero i love any movie with Jackie Chan or Jet Lee in it so i'm sure i'll love it even with the rediculous effects, But there are other new movies i wanna see i just can't think of the names right now.

Don't get me wrong, I admit that "Hero" is visually pretty...all the colors were bright and dreamy and as you said, the arrow attack was incredibly impressive. But, I didn't like the story at all and I can't help but feel annoyed that the story is excused all because most people enjoyed the visuals (what also irritated me was seeing Zhang Ziyi in this film too...it's like, geez, so she was in "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon"...all of a sudden, she appears in this film which is supposed to be "CTHD"'s contender. I also just don't like her either). Even though "CTHD" had great actors like Michelle Yeoh and Chow-Yun Fah, I would pick this movie over it anyday. Plus, "Hero" has Maggie Cheung who is pretty cool and Tony Leung as well.

Again, don't get me wrong...I would love the whole fantasy setting with martial arts, but regarding the wire-work, I personally think it looks better if it was a bit more "realistic". As in, the fighters look like they actually have real skill to make them jump and leap to places not look at their opponent then fly to them with imaginary wings.

I personally liked hero, it was just fun to watch I didn’t see it for the deep moving story anyway, I want high flying people with sword fighting action
But I liked how on each different view of the story, everyone was wearing different colors.

But what I want to see are:
Resident Evil Apocalypse and Saw, which looks really freaky.
But I have quite low hopes for RE:A since I didn’t like the first one that much at all, even when I pitted it as a stand alone movie and not based off the game it just didn’t grab me.

I recommend you rent or buy 'Holes' Such a brilliant film..I can't stop going on about it...possibly coz it stars the amazing up and coming actor and my future husband (in my dreams) Shia LaBeouf but other than that its a great film from a great book and has a brilliant cast!!
Oh and a fantastic Soundtrack too!

Sounds good, Piggle. Yeah Meryl, nothing to worry about, certainly from me, im not one to over react, and actually im sure any reasons you have are legit for your problems with a movie. With your knowledge and background in certain genres you should certainly be able to express your feelings, and should anyways. I was going to say im not a fan of the wire flying myself, i think this movie just stood out over most of the weak fare ive seen this summer and most of the year. Just as CTHD stood out over many of its rivals, this movie does. As the remainder of the year goes along i will mention a movie or two and see what you all think, there should be a few gems out there....

I personally liked Hero too. It was a pleasure for the eye and the plot was from many points of view similar to the one of another asian movie, Rashomon, that Panuru recommended to watch time ago and that I enjoyed very much. Not to forget, Tony Leung is so cute

I've now been to the cinema three times in four days. Today I saw Dodgeball, which was trashy and cool. Why aren't I seeing anything other than light entertainment?
