Gamecube coming into its own
When the GCN first came onto the market, it didn't have many games worth mentioning. Over the past year or so it's had a few great hits, but again, nothing to worry the competition about. Things are starting to change. The GCN is actually compiling an impressive number of outstanding games as of late. With games like Tales of Symphonia and Pikmin 2, both of which are outstanding GCN exclusives, the Gamecube is "coming into its own." In the next year or two, the GCN is going to get some excellent titles, a new Legend of Zelda, Metroid Prime 2, and Paper Mario 2, just a few of the many. It would be a good idea for whoever hasn't bought a GCN to do so, afterall, $99 is a pretty attractive price.

As good as some of the GC titles sound. There pretty much all first party titles. I believe the xbox and ps2 have more promising lineups this year round but that is my opinion. I'm not saying the GC is bad by any means but I do not believe there lineup is as strong as the competition.

Thats true. This and the coming year the Xbox and PS2 are definately going to outdo the GC (how can compete with GTA and HALO2 for Christ's sake). But still, the GC has really come a long way from the weak library it had its first couple of years on the market.

To me, the GC isn't a "premier" machine. What it is good for is as your second machine.... So perhaps people go out and get an XBox -or- a PS2, and then would get a GC before they got the one they didn't get. I know if I wanted another console (I only have a PS2) i'd get the GC over the Xbox. Why? Not necessarily because the GC is better than the Xbox (or even that the Xbox isn't better than the PS2), but because it's got games like those pjb mentioned that are so far removed from the kind of stuff I can already play on my PS2 (too many overlaps and similar types of games VS the Cube's unique first-party stuff).

thats exactly what im talking about artist. If nothing else, the Gamecube's library can be described as a unique selection not offered on anyother system.

Yah, too bad the Cube doesn't get more exclusives. Also for most games, they just bring them to every system but the Nintendo ones. Not kool. Otherwise the Cube is very kool.

I don’t know what people see in the gamecube, It doesn’t off what the ps2 and Xbox offers, its online service is none existence, In fact I went into my local GAME store and the games variety it offers is poor, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes is it only good title what it had out (charts), as for ps2 and Xbox has more impressive line up for a all-round gamer, that’s just my opinion though.

All three consoles are worth having.
Although if it wasn´t for MGS3, I would say that X-Box has the lead BY FAR.

That's wierd...if it weren't for MGS, Mortal Kombat, Devil May Cry, and Jak 2, I would drop my PS2 in the street. I love my PS1, it having FFVII and FFVIII

Without Xbox live the xbox is nothing. That is the reason I didnt get one myself. At the time when I wanted to get a new console, I didnt have broadband so that meant no Xbox Live for me. So I got a PS2 instead. Now that I have broadband, I want an Xbox... but I'll just wait till the next generation of consoles to come out since it would be a waste of money because I dont play games as much as I used to.
Nintendo used to be the king until the Playstation came along. The PS1 kinda made gaming more mainstream and more people started to buy consoles. Gaming wasnt for little kids or nerds anymore, it became more widely accepted. But nintendo is stubborn and doesnt want to change thier ways and the GC is a bit of an aquired taste (personally I hate the look of the console and its controller... I think it looks like a Fisher Price toy. ). The only game that interests me on the GC is the new zelda game coming out since i have always been a fan of that series. But that is pretty much it... There are some games I would like to try out, but nothing that would influence my decsion on buying the console. You dont even hear people talking about thier games that much. There aren't any Metrod Prime or Mario Kart parties. =/ Nintendo will never take back the #1 spot unless they decide to make some changes. Jesus... what the hell were they thinking with having next to no online?

You ask me, I think it all comes down to Nintendo's marketing strategy. Nothing like it was in the good old days.

yeah, i loved that commercial....I d/l it to my pc a long time ago..forgot I had it though lol
but I bought a GC almosta year ago, played it for about a month-2 months and then traded it in for a travel screen for my ps2. Its library of games, playable enjoyable games, is limited because it seems it releases great GC games every 4-5 months....you cant make a system with console exclusive games that arent worth playing. I had smash bros melee and Zelda and loved em but I got sick of waitng for RE and Mario Tennis to finally come out (and thank goodness I got sick of waiting since I'd have to wait until now to enjoy them) GC does lack in the advertisement portion of their console, but its exclusive games are to scarce to care about. Forget 'unique library'. Unique means nothing when you cant game or try out a new game on your GC whenever you feel. I gave up my chances to play the new Zelda and RE but whatever, its too long of a wait to have a console collecting dust waiting for its next hit |
