If Bush said you had to.
Would you go fight Iraq in a war?

I'm not American, and probably I can't understand it, but from my point of view this whole war thing is crap!
I obviously wouldn't go, neither being a guy |

You people don't understand us. If Bush says we go to war, we go to war. Any capable 18+ year old WILL be drafted to serve. If we draft-dodge, we get thrown in jail.
Besides, I'd fight for my country. I myself am democratic, which means anti-Bush, but his is the leader of our country. If the Senate and HoR decide that we should go to war, sign me up.

You're right, Hylas. Unfortunately, until the world leaders can become a little bit more civilized, then talking would commence instead of missiles flying.

hey after I graduate I will not be 18, and I am going anyway. I wanted to be a chopper pilot forever and I wanted to be a soldier for a long time so I am killing 2 birds with 1 stone, I am doing both
and yes I would fight

I dont know I probably would but I would have tons of doubts about it! It is totaly diff from the movies and the games, you could actually die. I dont really know if I would though. I already have my life set for the next couple years!

As do I. If I would be unlucky enough to not get a scholarship then I would join the Navy or maybe the Marines. I have enough information to have doubts, trust me. Just because I want to or would do it, doesn't actually mean that this is going to happen. Life is a rollercoaster.
Someone once said, "Freedom isn't for everyone. It's for those who are willing to do whatever it takes to get it." That goes for a lot of other things also.

I'd send Bush another package of Rold-Golds if the Secret Service guys wouldn't leap at the bag. I hate that stupid yokel bastard with a passion.
If I was drafted it would be against the law for me NOT to go though. And Patriotism aside I don't like that idea either. It should be a choice to fight for the country, not some bullshit call-up from a government currently run by right-wing republican fools and a man who the People of the United States didn't ACTUALLY vote into office.

I would not go. I did not participate in my country's war, much less would I do it for a country I wasn't born in. The only way I'd participate would be if the other guys came here to this ladn, then I would fight, but I would not go to them to shoot them. WArs suck, all of them, none of them has a reasonable reason to exist, they are all products of the greed, ignorance, stupidity and bastardness of men.

whilst im not in the US, and I don't think I can be called up anyways (yay me!) I wouldn't fight. no sirreeee. war is wrong, and not having the choice to put yourself forward for fighting is kind of sick. If bush wants to go fight, he can go do it himself... it'd give an element of suprise to his offence right?

i dont live in america but if i did, i wud go fight, because i am patriotic and because i dont think my life is worth much.
I dont think war is acceptable tho, personally i think Bush and saddam shud go at it in a ring, 12 rounds see who wins. See whos the real man.

For one I'm not convinced about the merits of going to war against Iraq.
Firstly, I'm not convinced that this whole isn't about one thing - oil. Secondly, the Middle-East is already destabilised enough without causing more tension by going to war with Iraq. I know all about Saddam's use of chemical weapons against his own people, the Kurd's, etc - but that isn't what this war is about. This proposed invasion of Iraq is supposedly in the name of 'The War Against Terror' but both Bush and Blair have yet to prove there are any real links between Iraq and Al Qaeda. Countless innocents will die, including both Allied soldiers and Iraqi civillians - War is not the answer. However I do agree Saddam needs to be removed. It was said that during the Gulf War, the British SAS were within spitting distance of Saddam and could have eliminated him - but the order was never given. I have to ask myself why. If the SAS can get that close to him once, then they can do it again. Instead of going to war - maybe Bush and Blair should think about covert operations to take Saddam out. The result of which should mean no unnecessary deaths for anyone. As for would I go to fight if war happens? No, I wouldn't be allowed. Due to the nature of the industry I work in (the Nuclear industry) I am classified as an 'essential' worker and therefore by law could not be drafted. Besides, there's enough people where I live who love nothing more than a good fight on a Saturday night after the clubs have shut - I'm sure they'd be the first in line to get some action. - S

It's not just about oil anymore, if it was. I know you people couldn't have possibly forgotten about the "World Trade Centers" and the "Pentagon". Because I know some of you live in NY. I understand war is wrong, but sometimes there is no civilized manner to go about doing things. What else is there left to do? Osama has crossed the line, and I hope he burns in hell.
The only thing that truely hurts me mentally is the fact that all these innocent people died, plus the soldiers which are from our families and neighborhoods. Another heart breaking thing is that people who are innocent that are asian or whatever that live in this country get beaten and tortured for what happend on Sept.11. The American people hurt, maybe not all of them. It's sad that this had to occure for us to stand together again. And maybe, for you, this doesn't seem like a good enough reason upon other reasons why I might go, it is for me. Just wanted to explain more, that's all. I apologize for anyone offended.

The point is, there are rules in a democracy. This includes, you got no right to refuse fighting if it is the peoples wish. Me - a longer served soldier - I hate it what Bush is doing now, but I would never judge on a soldier who is serving his duty in Iraq, even if he was asked to do so.
What makes me headache are two things: You cannot stop people like Satan Husseîn by diplomacy. And if you cut off his head, tree new will grow out of his neck, I mean, there are many guys ready to play his part in advance, his brothers, for example. So it would be not enough sneding a special force there who manage to kill him. In opposite, he would be a marthyr for his people and people came closer together to fight America. So what the hell should we do there? Wait untill he's got the bomb? ... and the secound big point is: We´re talking about democracy, but, hey, what is it? In America as well as in Germany: The real serious matters are decided in parlament (senat, house of representatives, whatever) and / or by the president, chancelor, prime minister, whatever, some EXCLUSIVLY. And now, my US-mates, lemme ask you one question: Have you all been asked if soldiers should go to Iraq? Is it wanted by the majority of all US-citizens? If you can answere by yes, you live in a democracy, and really have to follow Mr.Bush as your elected head of state. IF NOT..... The Rhythmosaur |
