Yeah I know, black and white films aren't bad...what's lacking in the visual department makes up in the story. You tend to focus on the actors, dialogue, and the story instead of paying attention to what color a person's outfit is.

Thanks! I now know Meiko wanted recent movies, but I don't think old films are bad. I'm watching more old films now because of the drought of good modern films nowadays.

OLD BOY is one of my fav movies, good to see that someone else likes it too. I want the whole trilogy of the series. I think I saw BESTBUY actually carrying it. Cant believe my eyes, but I will be picking that up. But Old Boy is OLD BOY. Excellent movie. Along with Audition and Ichi The Killer. Check these movies out.

And I am pretty sure you must have seen this as its one of the GREATEST Movies ever made IMO, but check out "BATTLE ROYALE" Part 1 and Part 2. I loved the second part aswell, as it had more emotion involved but ofcourse PART 1 just untouchable. I even heard, they are completing the Trilogy of that too. So Battle Royale 3 will coming out at some time.

I watched Feed this weekend, disturbing theme but not as gruesome as I thought it would be. I also watched that documentairy "protocols of zion" badly done is all I can say. Yesterday watched Slither, I expected another modern horror-flick but it was quite good they got this whole old-school b-flick going throughout the movie one of the better movies I've seen lately.

How's Battle Royale 2, Makg? I've watched 1, but I've heard 2 is not as good.

I dont know why people say that all the time. I have friends who think the same but for some reason I really enjoyed and loved the the 2nd one as well. The amount of emotion it has......its quite amazing. Nanahara the character is quite something in it, you can almost be him in this movie because he has so much anger and at the same time...the nice innocence in him. I highly recommend it. I would agree that its not "AS" good as the first one but at the same time cannot be ignored and not enjoyed.

Well, "The Lake House" which is a remake of the Korean film "Il Mare" is released today on DVD which I saw in theaters already. I like the film, it was very slow but that's what made it relaxing...it had the typical Hollywood ending, but it wasn't so bad. I'm waiting to see "Il Mare" as well.

I also saw "Transamerica" a few weeks back and I didn't like the film that much. The actress who played the main character was very good, but the story was incredibly blah, the son was ridiculous, and the ending didn't have any closure.

And these aren't recent films (I'm sorry ) but I saw "Delicatessen", "The City of Lost Children", and "Les Choristes" about a few weeks ago, all which I really enjoyed.

Also, if anyone has seen Kiraware Matsuko no Issho (Memories of Matsuko) in their country, could they please tell me about it and if they liked it. The JP DVD releases in November, but it has no English subtitles.

I saw this movie called Goal! a few days ago. It was pretty good. Its about a family that leaves Mexico to live in the U.S. and then 10 years later it shows the son working with his dad in a landscaping business. The son loves soccer alot and plays in a local league. Then a former professional soccer player from england sees him play and wants him to come with him to england. His dad thinks its a waste of time etc etc. Overall it was enjoyable to watch

I forgot to mention another good movie. Check out Lucky Number Slevin. I thought this movie was great. It kept me interested the whole time watching it. Heres the plot. "A case of mistaken identity lands Slevin (Josh Hartnett) into the middle of a war being plotted by two of the city's most rival crime bosses: The Rabbi (Ben Kingsley) and The Boss (Morgan Freeman). Slevin is under constant surveillance by relentless Detective Brikowski (Stanley Tucci) as well as the infamous assassin Goodkat (Bruce Willis) and finds himself having to hatch his own ingenious plot to get them before they get him."

I watched The Devil's rejects by Rob Zombie yesterday, great movie a bit violent for some people maybe, but beautifully filmed, great score, good actors etc. Major step forward since house of 1000 corpses.

I suggest to watch A History of Violence. It's an unusual thriller for those used to Hollywood standards.

The Maltese Falcon and the Original Big Sleep are great films. Everyone needs to see them too. And Clerks II was actually really ace too, if you liked Pre-Dogma Kevin Smith (sadly, Kevin Smith has yet to make the switch in style and thus allow me to describe his work as pre-Dogme).

Bogey is awesome. You shall watch all his John Huston's movies. It's great fun!

I do need to see more Bogart. And actually more noir on top of that. I watched Brick again last night, I'm still totally in love with that film.

Try Key Largo next time. It's amazing how Huston uses the space of the set - just a few rooms - in this movie.

Another cool one with Bogey is In A Lonely Place by Nicholas Ray.

My problem with the movie is that a lot of people think it's some kind of semi-documentary on how it really goes, but it's just (very) losely based on a fact(football violence) and they give it this whole heroic twist...
