"Best Game of Show"? - E3
... if I remember correctly, aren't E3 awards given to the games on show? ( for instance, wasn't last years Doom III? ) Anyways, which game is most likely to receive "Best game at E3", and which would you personally want to win such an award?
My bets are on Half-Life 2 - its massivly anticipated, flaunting some of the most advanced and realistic graphics ever, and will have a lot to show after 5 years of development with no secrets being given away... (unlike somthing like MGS3, which may or may not have much said about it at all)

Any game, it is so exciting, but my money is on MGS3 this year, konami or Kojima has give nothing away about this game, I think they will unleash mind blowing stuff at the E3.

Seeing all the amazing games being shown at this year's E3, I'll make a long shot.
Snake Eater & Twin Snakes.

I would have to say MGS3. Since everybody knew Halo 2 was going to be there it would have to be pretty damn awesome to win it. But MGS3 is a bit of a surprise to most. And as Dan said nothing is really known about the game.
Oh and Doom III was the Best in Show last year https://www.e3awards.com/past.html

well...Gamespy and IGN agree with me ... Halo 2 isn't far behind in either, and MGS3 is... in their somewhere. I'm just trying to collect movies of all so i can judge for myself... so anyone got a link to a Halo 2 movies that doesn't require me to sign up for anything. I dislike Fileplanet

Got to say that Halo 2 looks hot from screenshots alone, and is always at least second place... going "over to bungie's place" to check it out now (Snake Eater is... pretty good. Just nothing innovative apart from the setting. Plus "Snake Eater", regardless of any designation for bad-ass mercenary dudes, sounds like a porn movie to me. Still, its the game and not the name...)

If you have a look at the individual Gamespot movies, 02 and 06 are my favorites of what i have seen: 02 shows heavy use of physics in gameplay. Its awesome. The Best Bits are: - The Player pushes a table in front of a door with a soldier in pursuit, and you see the the solider repeatedly kicking the door to get it out of the way! The player - The Players uses an experimental weapon to rip the radiator of the wall, he uses it as a shield whilst climbing the stairs, deflecting bullets as he goes. Then he fires the damned thing at the soldier who's shooting, and kills him instantly - The Player comes across an area full of soldiers, and shoots the supports that hold a girder in place. This girder then swings, pendulum style, dashing the red stuff of the guards everywhere . Then he uses a grenade to push a massive shipping container onto the one remaining soldier 06 Shows some nitty-gritty fighting, and some intelligent allies, that don't simply run at the enemy and start shooting (as in HL1) Best Bits are: - The return of Barney! who says "Remember when we thought that Black-Mesa was as bad as it could get?" and "Cover Me Gordon", whilst backed up against a wall, and followed by some crouching behind a car to fire off his automatic weapon. Totally convincingly, and perfectly lip-synched. - The Player throws a grenade behind some Soldiers. It Goes off, the go flying and one lands head fast next to the player. - Allies act convincingly: they've got their backs against the wall, and look alert when they get in. - The Player shoots a player who is on top of a high platform, and he falls several meters before crunching on the pavement. - This weird flying thing appears, shoots a white coated guy dead, and causes the telegraph wires in the place to go all wibely. realistically of course. Whats most interesting about all this, is that non of it, whatsoever is "scripted." No programer told the soldier to kick the door in. The AI was just responding to the situation it found itself in. But don't take my word for it... try to see it for yourselves

https://www.e3awards.com/nom.html - the nominations for each catagory have been announced. No MGS3 to be seen at all, and it looks very much like a Half-Life 2 vs Halo 2 fight here (both pick up 3 nominations each, and 2 of these are in the same catagories - Game of the Show and Best Action Game, with nominations for Best PC and Console Games respectively)
Its kind of a shame that Halo 2 and Half-Life 2 face of like this really... both look like they're great games, and the videos shown at E3 are enough for most people to wish they could just play them now damnit! ... ah well, i'm not intending to get an X-box anyway, so i may just be waiting a very, very long time for one of these titles... Nice to see Homeworld 2 get a nomination for best strategy game as well... i can't wait to play this either |
