Well, where I work, I see 50% percent of customers buying a Video Game are girls. There are alot of girls who like Video Game here. But from where I come from.... 0.1% play games and 99.99% thinks its childish not play any of it.
I have never dated a gamer girl (A girl who likes video games). Before I use to try to find someone of my intrest, but now I DONT. I wouldn't wanna date a girl whos intrested in games. Why?.. I have very stupid reasons. I am VERY possesive when it comes to my stuff.... and having a girlfriend into games means, I would have to give her my games to play and stuff like that, which I wouldn't like...and on top of all that, if she has my games and we by any chance brake up, god knows what she'll do to them. See told ya I am crazy... thats why I have dated girls who really dont like games so when I show her my "GAMES".... she doesnt wanna take em away from me.!.

Makg kinda expressed another reason that sometimes guys (and girls too) have to not being so fond of the idea of having a gamer girlfriend : the jealousy of their games collection ![]() I'm not so happy when I have to lend games as well, so I pretty much see a reason for what you said, Makg! |

I'm a girl, I've started playing videogames even before my brother, and I like different genres, not only rpgs.
I've never had a boyfriend who liked videogames, so I guess my case is the perfect opposite of yours

My sister never plays video games, but her boyfriend plays with me, she started as well (for his sake or something like that). Neway, we started playing Tekken 4 and after a couple of days my sister actually kicked my ass with "Christie"....... All my cousins and my friends were like "NO WAY, DAMN, you Lost by your sister".... I just laughed and had a re-match, and even till today she give me a good fight, but 95% I usually win. And this one time, this really nice looking girl came to our place (family friend). And told me that she likes Tekken (as well).. we stared playing and she beat me at this very close game, but after winning, she had this celebration type of joy, she screamed and said "YEAH!!!, You see Now, dont you?"...... I was kinda pissed at that celebrationg, not her........ I beat her the next 20 matches and when she wanted to leave, I made her play 30 more matches, and there it went 50 matches to 1. I would have done the same thing with a guy, but she was a girl. I didn't see that in her. I took her as a gamer. I do not go easy on girls..... UNLESS if they really dont know about something..... then I DO feel bad (everybody does). But Ive had my bad days with girls....... them beating the shit out of me in games, but its been always cool. Its just that I have been known as a "GAME GURU" amoung my friends, and whenever I lose, it becomes the topic of the next 6 months. Thats all.

I think what MakgSnake told happens for one reason mainly: most gamer girls have no patience at all regarding videogames. They just want to pick a controller and play, and if they win, they think they've learned anything regarding the game and have no more interest in it. Guys, at least some of them, are more patient than girls. Girls can be as good as guys. If only they'd put a bit more effort in the videogames they play...

Well, my older sister started playing video games before me because, of course, she was born about 5 years before me, I'm 17 and she's now 23. My younger sister does play video games but right now she doesn't have much patience for them and most games are hard for her. She ends up getting help from me and her other brothers most of the time, but it's mostly because she's asked. I've turned her down a couple of times before when she asked me to help her, not to be crude but to try and get her to try something else like going back and trying to level up or trying a new strategy for the bosses. My older sister is really into stuff like mario Bros. and the Pac-Man games and she's way better than me, she's already beat Ms. Pac-Man where I can't get past level 30, I think. I think I might not do too well with Fighting games games because my hand-eye coordination is horrible. So, in fighting games I don't react as quickly as most people and it's extremely hard for me to pull off combo moves especially against the computer. Then there's the action/adventure games, they're generally hard for me because I like to go real fast through them.
I didn't mean to talk so much about that but it came to my mind and I just had to tell someone, hope you read all that. Anyway, I don't like to lend stuff to people but that's why if I did find a gamer girl I'd do my best and try to keep the games where they are, at home. It's hard for me to find someone to challenge on games like fighting games outside of my family. It would be a nice change to challenge any of the ladies to play a fighting game with me, especially if it was one I hadn't played before. I'm sure they would be able to show me a thing or two, maybe even get me to improve. (whoa, I hardly have posts this long. Huh? Oh, this, it's just a pointless realization that I found and just felt like mentioning for unknown reasons. Hey, nice new smilies.)

This is so true. I always feel ashamed to mention that i'm a hardcore gamer in front of girls. It always seemed to me that gamers got the immediate "nerd" or "has no life" status if they played videogames. I do remember talking to a girl about getting my x-box and she was pretty cool about it, she worked at wal-mart at the time so she knew when they were getting them in. She didn't play though This being my first year in college i happened to overhear some girls in my english 101 class talking about the release of vice city and how they love GTA games. I never did talk to them though, they were just plain annoying.

I don't take losing well no matter who I lost to...so I would probably be even more angered if it was a girl I was losing too. Though I just don't see myself being angry. In fact I think I would enjoy playing a girl who could beat me 50% of the time. It would make for good competition.
I like to make up excuses as to why I lose. Makes me feel like the person I am playing against will forever be inferior to me. Now I know that is bad, but it keeps me playing. The only game I know of that I got so sick and tired of losing in was Mario Party. Boy did I suck at that game. No, I didn't suck, my friend was just great. Yeah that's it! ![]() And when I play Socom and there is a girl playing on my team...Oh yeah, that's fun stuff. Though I think that's only happened 5 times. Well I am sure there are more...but they just don't speak because they are afraid of getting harassed. Quote:

I actually will mention to anyone I play video games. It's just what I do, I never really was good at anything else. I wouldn't mind being labeled as having no life because in a way that's true. I know I should go out more but I don't and I'm not real good with talking to people face to face. Speaking of girls who play video games, one of the ones I found out who plays video games turns out to be not tom-boyish at all.

I need a gaming girlfriend...... That is the only route to hapiness for me. I am able w/ my great looks(j/k) to pick up several girls but what i really want is a good relationship. I am not superficial... although Looks are somewhat important, anyone who says anything else must be lying
, but I just need someone i can talk to and relate to.... And since videogames are a huge part of my life(that and star wars) i need someone who can empathise w/ me and not say that i am childish for what i do. I have played the field and this is what i need... Anyone w/ in a 1000 mile radius of Upstate NY please apply I do agree w/ alot of sentiments expressed in the thread w/in... You are all right in your own way.. I guess relationships are different for everyone... Tricky shit.. trickier than playing Silent Hill or metal gear for sure If only life were a videogame, then i could actually be successful... Oh well... ladies: Dont forget to apply!

I have never met a girl that likes games other then my two cousions. they are the only two girls i know that have an interest in videogames. sport games mostly like nba street,SSX tricky and they recently got TS2.
i beat my cousion in nba street for 2 times then she started to catch up. i got beat like 10 to 21 from there on in. it wasnt so bad except my brother in the background laughing.......jackass im the only real gamer in the house you can say. when my brother beats me or watches me gets beat he starts laughing or doing a speical "dance" i have no problem getting beaten in games by girls. but once i got beaten by a girl in tekken tag. i played the game for about 5 months and it was her first time playing......it was shocking. she kicked my ass the first time playing...... but im always competive when i play games. whoever you are......i play to win! if its your first time playing i tell you the basic controll's for the game. then its time to play!

I know a few... None of them fit into the "lets play nice story based games like final fantasy and hug fluffy things!" catagory though... so none of them own fansites or shrines (which is a shame really...)
There were 5 or so in the UT1 clan I used to be in (one of them is in her mid thirties, and most of them seem to have families: Shooting people's arms off seems preferable to sitting at home watching Oprah Winfrey as it would seem...)... and a number of my real life friends play Resident Evil. Shame they play Only Resident Evil though, because conversations about games can be very, very boring when you don't have a clue about each others tastes And I once read that about 40% of Console gamers are Female, and 48% of PC gamers are Female... not sure where, but "girl gamer" sites do exist.

Oh I know, meryl, I just got the feeling that you and some of the other girls were very frustrated from your experiences. And, also I may have felt a little defensive, too, for no particular reason. Quote:

awww, you don't intimidate me meryl and I don't think you intimadte and of the other guys here either. PLus, after seeing your pic in the user pic thread I really can't even imagine you intimidating anyone! Quote:
I think we should also remember, in case for those who forgot, we are not just talking about girls beating guys in two player games. I think it's cool when a guy and his girl can sit down and enjoy a game together...maybe take turns or one watch while the other plays because they share you rinterest in the storyline. I remember my last girlfriend when I used to play Silent HIll 2 rolled up in blankets with her at night and she's be so intrigued by ths story just watching me. I think this could work both ways. I think she watched for the entire length of the hospital part of the game. Of course I had to play the rest alone cuz this particular game almost requires it, but you get the idea. _RED_ stuff

Yeah, Meryl, you look nice with those glasses on. The school I go to is filled with girls who wear contacts, I'd say about 98% of the girls there wear them(What's wrong with glasses?)
Anyway, that's not what we're talking about so you can just ignore that if you want. Quote:
