I love the later Silver Jews music (even though I loved Pavement). The press always did them down here, writing them off as a Pavement side-project but that was never the case. I think David Berman might be one of the most tragic characters of the music world though... Punks in the Beerlight is my favourite SJ song: If it ever gets really really bad...

Though I like Pavement, I think I've always liked Silver Jews better. I was saddened to acknowledge the breakup a few months ago, but I admire Berman for the reasons he's given. It's hard to have a moral and to be a rockstar at the same time.

Saw this 25 year Rock 'n roll hall of fame thing on boxing day. Loved the version of CCR's Fortunate son, so I'm listening to that again!
