Yup, I use that and its good and reliable.

Kazza lite was good until it messed my computer up, and I did use supernova but it got shutdown I think.

Get Ares.

Here is one that the show "The Screen Savers" showed on their show. It takes downloads from EDonkey, Gnetulla2 + 1,and is a great and fast program.

https://www.shareaza.com

Do not use Kazaa because they were recently caught in the act of logging users IP Addresses, which was a major thing because that makes Kazaa spyware. Ares and the rest are slow.

Or use this one which is also great, but I would stick with Shareaza.

I've just d/l Shareaza, my sis' computer techie mate suggested it aswell, and it seems pretty good so far.
I was just wondering if someone who uses it could tell me what the little circle symbols are in the status bar bit.. I tried to look it up in the help bit but it was a bit confusing so I stopped lol.

Cheers.

First off, when they ask you to fill out information about yourself, do not do it. Only select English, and nothing else, just keep on clicking X until the software has no pop-up fill out information. There is a little player at the top of the software that contains mute, and other buttons on it, it should be X out. Then click View and Power Mode at the bottom of the drop down menu, then click Yes. Then click network and connect to Gnetulla 1 and 2 ( both at different times). Then click the Search button at the top, then type in whatever you are looking for in the box that has the phrase "Type your search here:" then use the drop down menu under "Look for this type of file:" click Audio for music, Video for Videos, and Application for software. Then click Start Search, and it searches, whenever you see something that you want to download in the box to the right, right click it and download. The download takes place in Transfers, the button at the top. In tools, shareaza settings..., and connection you may want to change the speed to the highest number 18 mbps for inbound and outbound. Then click Apply and OK. <Do this step after you connect.

You can right click the audio/program in transfers and click preview to play whatever in the media player, which is cool. When the download is finished, you go to the download folder in Shareaza program folder, and cut it into the folder you want. And I do not see any circles in the status bar, must have been in an older version.

It is real easy when you get the hang of it, hoped that helped.

Oops My bad.. I filled out most of that stuff... I also gave them my house keys and told them when I was going to be out... was that wrong?

I have Dial-up not Broadband.. Does that matter? Should I still change the speed to the highest number?

Yes thanks you were most helpful! I have only had it for about an hour and have already got the hang of it mostly, it is really quite easy, even for a tech dunce like me!

It does not matter if you have dial up, because the higher the number, the better the connection.

EDIT: Okay sorry for the quote at the top messing up. In Shareaza, it does not matter if you gave them information, I just like to be on the safe side just in case. You can always change or delete what you put anways.

I use mIRC for all my file sharing needs. Well, it not really filesharing, more like nothing but leeching. Well, no spyware and pretty fast most of the time. It is just requires a bit of configuration for it to work and you kina need to know what you are doing to get exactly what you want.

The other way I fileshare (or in more accurately... leech) is using torrents. The progam I use to handle torrents is azerus, its faster than bit-torrent and I can leech better by lowering my upload limit to 5kb/s. It doesnt force me to upload at a fast speed in order to download at decent speeds. I woudlnt have no problem with this if uploading too much didnt slowdown my internet to a crawl, making browsing worse mcuh than it is on a 56k.

But I get mostly big files so the method I download things with probably isnt best for you since you are on 56k.
