Sorry, but I didnt know if I should put this here or the general gaming section since it really doesnt deal with games but rahter just the compay.

Anywhoo... A freind send me a link to this guy's site, called Beta-7. He got the name from sega, that is what they named him since he was a beta tester. He was testing sega's new game, NFL 2k4 and the helmet cam. Next thing he knows, he passed out and wakes up in a white room. Apparently they just used him as a guiena pig, knowing the thing had some side effects like that.

After that Sega has been acting all weird to him. One day he woke up to find himself bruised and beat up. Eventualyl he started telling others, the whole thing blew up, he stole some documents from sega's trash cans and got letters from sega and all that junk. He even says sega put up a fake fansite called Gamer Chuck once promoting how great the game was.

To sum it up, this guy was trying to get out the message that sega uses people as guinea pigs (he says the beta versions of the games caused you to be violent) and sega is trying to stop him.

I'm not sure if its a hoax or what. Seems like something straight out of a movie. I have looked into it but so far I cant find any solid proof of it being fake or real. What I did manage to find was an interview that a site did with Beta-7 and Gamer Chuck. In thier conclusion they said Gamer chuck was nothing but a marketing campaign and weren't sure about Beta-7 being real. I never played NFL2k4 myself so I dont know about this first person cam thing. But if it is true then most likely they changed something so you wouldnt turn violent. Also this guy sure as hell has enough videos...

Right now Beta-7 has disappeared. On his blog, his friend said he went to Beta-7's apartment and the pace has been ransacked and all the information about sega was gone. LAst time he posted himself was Sept 5th.

EDIT: Hmm... I think I just found something proving this thing is fake. Its too outrages for me to fully believe its true. If it is fake then its just a sega marketing campaign and if that's true its a pretty stupid campaign at that. I mean, really, I havent even heard of it till today.

Well, since I cant edit my post, I"m gonna have to double post.

I found somce concrete evidence proving this thing is fake. All I did was do a whois search on beta-7.com and gamerchuck.com. Ok course the forms was near exactly the same. So in the end this is all a stupid marketing ploy from sega.

Also after reading the supposed testing files of the testers, it seemed like they was promoting the game. They said all patients sowed more interest in teh game and was more immersed in the game after playing in the first person mode. They picked what made the game different and advertised it.

Still, a pretty stupid advertising campaign. =/

Seems like something straight out of a movie.

Did you see a movie called "Antitrust" it has a story kind of like this but instead of games is about computers..but it's pretty much the same story, maybe they copied the idea from this movie...
