I was talking about multiplayer. Even if I wasn't, a FPS is an FPS, regardless of whether your character walks around like he's messed himself.

Yes yes... all fps are good... UT2003 was pretty dissapointing... but artist from what i have heard and i call MSFT about every week (trying to get a Halo2 demo... no luch though)
... their are a bunch of new features... and with online play i am sure that bunjie will have d/l levels and such... and i have confirmed from bunjie that in multiplayer you can play or at least have drones of elites and other such covenant forces to play as or against... so that is new

In the end you will just have to decide which you will like more... UT is a good series and Halo is as well...It all comes down to the individual

Best Buy has a package that comes with a controller, $200 worth of coupons and a Halo 2 demo. The demo is not playable though. I think it's priced at about $40.00.

I am going to buy Halo 2 whenever it comes out unless I hear awful things about it. But, for whatever reason, people don't like to point out flaws in the first Halo. So I doubt that happens.

yup.. but if UT2003 showed anything, it's that user made content can make a game. The maps made by third-party authors in the year since release were better than most of those that made it into the game. Its a shame that users can't make content like that for console games, and you have to rely on the authors to utilise their technology the best that they can.

Bungie, with the level design for Halo 1 in mind, is not a company i'd trust to bring out consistantly brilliant downloadable content.

What are you talking about? Sidewinder,BG, and a slew of others are some of the best multiplayer maps around. I'm pretty damn sure they would be one of the best to bring out great levels, considering there so damn balanced and fun to play.

OK , I'll be straight with you. I played Halo and I didn't see what the big deal was about - I got bored with it after 20 minutes of playing it on my mates Xbox. But what I've seen of Halo 2 so far I think it looks a lot better and has pulled itself from the mud Halo 1 put the Xbox in (OK i know you love it but it didn't appeal) and I was wondering whether this is going to bigger and better than Halo 1 or not.

In my opinion, if a Halo map doesn't suffer from the Copy and Paste philosophy (which is, in part a product of the peculiar design decision to have every gametype on the same map, and partly a problem carried over from the often abysmal Single Player levels) it's too small and basic to have had much design work done to it, or simply a bumpy terrain map with a cuboard for the flag / objective thinger. Anyway, what need is there for "Balancing" when the majority of maps are symetrical?. It seems to me that Halo maps can't even pull the "looks good but plays like a mule" card, as there are few, if any interesting ideas or designs in the levels themselves.

You know from what your saying a lot of Unreals map suffer from the same problem along with a few other multiplayer games. But I guess it all depends on what you like. You are kinda right on them being basic, but the its the physics engine and the way halo is that makes things so enjoyable while playing. I mean there such a huge amount of different ways to go about everything in the game that it never really gets dull (atleast to me). Anyways we can always hope they improve the complexity of the levels. Oh heres a little piece of Halo 2 info, its just an unconfirmed rumor but it still sounds damn good.

Once you select Multiplayer you get the following options:

-(1) Cooperative ( Split Screen/System Link Co-Op ) [ 2 player max ]
-(2) Split Screen [ 4 players max ]
-(3) LAN Play [ 24 player max ]
-(4) Xbox Live [ 24 player max ]
-(5) Edit Gametypes

Here is a detailed discription of each:

First and foremostBOX LIVE
Once selected you get these options:
* Online Co-Op
* Online Regular multiplayer ( up to 24 opponents ) CTF, Slayer, Race, Oddball and King of the Hill.
* BattleGround: Halo
Battle as humans (SPARTAN Soldiers), vs alien ( covenant Elites ) in a massive online multiplayer battles. On modified maps from the Campaign mode, you and 11 friends vs 12 enemies battle it out complete with interactive air support from Pelican Warships and Phanton battle crafts, unbeleivable!

-Cooperative:

Once selected you get two optionsystem Link and Split Screen. Split Screen is the same as the original game, where you and a friend plow through the Campaign mode together on the same TV.
System Link allows you to play through the game with a friend on two different TV's and Xbox using a system link cable. You can also talk to each other using the Xbox live communicator if you'd like.

-Split Screen:

Been there done that, you and 3 other buddies kick each others butts, in games of CTF, Slayer, Oddball, King of the Hill and Race.

-Lan Play:

Hook up to 6 Xboxes together for up to 32(!!!) players, play all the regular gamemodes of CTF, Slayer, Oddball and Race.

The vehicles of Halo 2:
Returning
- The Warthog
- The Scorpion Tank
- The Ghost

New Human Vehicles:
- The Gauss Warthog [3 passengers]
- The Rabbit ATV [1 passenger]

New Alien Vehicles:
- The Banshee Aircraft [1 passenger]
- The Shadow Assault Vehicle [3 passenger]
- The Wraith Tank [1 passenger]

Some of the new multiplayer Levels:

Hot Zone:

An medium sized outdoor level, that closely resembles the New Mombasa level featured in the E3 Demo. Consisting of twisting streets, bridges, towering buildings ( some which can be entered, for great sniping spots ), staircases and ledges with turrets. Guaranteed to take over Blood Gulch as the new favorite CTF level.

Amazonia

A dark, lush jungle level that resembles the "Timberland" level of Halo PC, but a whole lot better looking and atmospheric. Rolling Hills dotted with tall, thick rooted trees and winding paths between shallow rivers.

Inner Sanctum

A level inside the belly of the UNSC Cruiser Renaissance. Small strobe-lit corridors interconnect two large multi-level hangars with massive pressure lock windows with breathtaking vistas of planet Earth. Turrets on the second level make getting on top a critical necessity.

Levels returning from Halo: Blood Gulch, SideWinder, Hang'em High. Additionaly 2 levels of Halo PC are also availible: Death Island and Danger Canyon.

that Battleground: Halo mode sounds a very good idea... Co-op is brilliant, but it sounds to me almost like a sort of co-op+ where humans control the AI as well! Its nice to see them (alledgedly) implementing Online Co-Op as well, especially as there was no co-op in Halo PC (bah!)

And regarding Halo MP, its only really the maps i don't think are that exciting. Halo still gives a good game because of all the other elements like physics, vehicles and gametype customisation (though the Master Chief could run a little faster... damnit i'm picky!). The bottom line is that if Halo had some top quality levels, it would be one hell of a game. I'd say "here's hoping that Halo 2 will be that game" if it weren't for the fact that i'm more likely to say "here's hoping that a stingy-arsed PC owner like myself will get to play the game on the PC".

It'd be cool if they put some more Covenant weapons in the game. Most of the Covenant weapons in HALO were weak, or at least not as powerful as the assault rifle or pistol. Having a Covenant sniper rifle or grenade launcher with some sweet futuristic ability on it would definately make the game more appealing. More MARINE vehicles would be nice too.

Well it look like the release date is official read for yourself.

Release date from bungie.net
But they also released the first ever halo 2 mutiplayer screenshot and a bit of news. But the release date really brings me down,oh well more time means a greater game
also here's the mutiplayer picture but i noticed something in the way back of the picture. it was almost unnoticeable but i circled it with some red ink on a paint program.
Halo 2 mutiplayer pic
that looks in the back to either be another player but another feeling it looks like a flood to me. probaly not but i just noticed that by looking around on the picture.
