I want to see Little Miss Sunshine. A friend of mine said it cheered her up in a bad day

Well I saw Little Miss Sunshine last night and I'm proud to say that I felt nothing towards it...it was neither a bad nor a good movie. This is relieving since others seem to say this is one of those movies where you either hate or love it and I can't stand being in these sort of positions.

Although the film was not bad in any way, I guess I'm mildly disappointed that the family was not as dysfunctional as everyone claims them to be. No offense to fans but if this is considered dysfunctional then I don't know what to say. Because they weren't dysfunctional, at least to me, the whole conclusion didn't really leave me in a "warm fuzzy feeling" sort of state. Also, I felt kinda sad that it takes a movie such as this for people to realize *gasp* people are cruel and uncaring in this world. Some other comments I read from other places are acting as if this is the "go-to" film for all of life's lessons.

Anyways, like I said, this is not a bad movie...I laughed at a lot of the parts, some scenes were very charming (my favorite being the diner scene) and all the characters were very real, though I wished we could've seen more of Frank, my favorite character.

I watched an older french flick called Man Bites dog, don't know the french title at the moment. Great sort of documentairy style movie, which is straight up hilarious, recommended for anyone who can enjoy french cinema.

I dont know if anyone has mentioned this, but i went to see Pan's Labyrinth a few months ago. Its a wonderful fantasy story and worthy of anyone's time. I know it won a Oscar or two and when it comes to DVD i will definitely be snappng it up. It had a high rating on Rotten Tomatoes and was getting some advertisements on tv at the time. Definitely a wonderful story, you will be "enchanted" by the experience.

I recommend anything by Yoji Yamada. Tora-san's series is just great, but my fave has to be Twilight Samurai.

The last movie by Aki Kaurismaki was also good. Kind of sad movie, and weird style if you're not used to it, but powerful message.

Zodiac was ok. I don't like Fincher much, but this one was ok, also that Gyllenhaal guy I usually find awfully boring.

I really enjoyed Zodiac. I wasn't expecting anything, but it was a great surprise.

Watched Infernal Affairs again a few nights ago, now without being intoxicated...I finally got the whole story straight...magnificent storytelling indeed. I still like the first part best I think. allthough part ll comes very close.

I saw Mr. Brooks about four days ago, it was rather really good. The film was very creepy not because of violence or gratuitous gore or anything just the fact that Mr. Brooks literally gets off on killing people. His private moments with his alter ego who urges him to kill Marshal (played by William Hurt) are also fantastic, this movie was a lot better then I thought it was going to be. Especially Kevin Costner performed better then expected I'm more of a fan of his past work and any western films he does since he's great for those, but he did an awesome job here.

I'd recommend seeing it, not a bad way to spend a day if you ask me.

Last night I saw "Sweeney Todd in Concert" and I really love it. It's a good and humorous story with a fantastic score. I tried watching the stage version a while back but Angela Lansbury's voice singing the complicated songs was just too grating for my tastes (perhaps I will give it another try though just for comparison).

Isn't Tim burton filming a remake of "Sweeney Todd"? There's Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter in it. I think it'll be good, but I can't tell what I'm expecting, since I haven't seen the original with Lansbury etc. yet.

Whoa, this is news to me! I checked out IMDB and you're right: Burton is doing an adaptation of it. How scarily uncanny. I'm a fan of Burton's works but eh...I don't know about Depp in this one. Can the guy even sing well? I hope so...because the songs Todd sings are powerful and heartfelt (I know my earlier post said the story is humorous but I forgot to mention that it's also incredibly tragic too). Plus, I hope Depp won't portray Todd as some quirky madman because that's not the case at all. The rest of the cast seems pretty good though except for maybe the guy who plays Signor Pirelli. Don't really like him and I hope he won't portray Pirelli as a clown.

I think this film will be watered down a lot but I hope it's still a good enough adaptation.

All movies starring Matti Pellonpää are now among my faves. I think I'm in love with him, as you can be with an actor. Too bad good actors are the ones to die first

Just recently watched Bourne: Ultimatum. I had never seen the series until about 2 weeks ago, and am very glad i did, easily one of the better action/adventure/suspense series ive seen. Oh, and i dont know if anyone has had the chance to check it out, but the new Die Hard movie kicks some major butt. I anticipate the new Jason Strathan Jet Li movie War which is due very soon....

I don't know. Burton's obsession with Depp might not work in this one, you say? I have no idea if Depp can sing or not, but from the few images I saw, I'm hopeful he'll do a good job.

Sorry if I offended any Depp fans, BTW. I just have an image of much older leads to play Todd and Lovett, even though I know Depp and Bonham Carter are in their 40s. But, like I said earlier, I do hope enough vocal coaching was given to Depp (and I hope he won't make Todd too odd) and perhaps the film may be a toned-down version of the musical but I still hope it's good nonetheless.
