Yes...Silent Hill in Silent Hill 2 is more of a depressing and lonely place (almost more anxiety laden this way) than in SH1...thus suiting what James has been going through for the past 3 years since Mary died and that feeling of unnameable guilt that goes with depression (this is one reason why I think the makers of SH are psychological geniuses) so that is perhaps why this particular
twist of James actually having something to have had to feel guilty over all this time is such a shock because it is any suicidal person's worst fear...that they're guilt is real and not just playing tricks on them.
Oh and perhaps more important
is the theory that SH1 and SH2 are both stories of men who find out they have condemned themselves to hell ( i heard SH3 may be different in this respect, btw)...and this theory goes perfectly with the idea of the guilt being real instead of imagined. This being one of the true horrors of the Silent HIll series so far (?!?)...So yeah...
