Mannofiron is on a distinguished road
I think that by far the most engrossing game I ever engaged in was Final Fantasy X. It was during my sophomore year in the winter, when I wrestle. Wrestling is grueling and tough...the season really wears on you. During practice all I would think about would be getting home and playing some more of this great game. I was just so tied up in the world and the characters, especially since it was my first Final Fantasy game. I can't get the same feeling of satisfaction out of too many games nowadays...it was just perfect for the long and brutal winter.

That said, I had one hell of a time with FF8 as well: I was a sucker for the Squall-Rinoa romance, even though I wasn't that big a fan of Squall. It was good to see a more typical Final Fantasy game in action. Some of the cutscenes from that game were just awesome: the escape from Dollet, the space scenes, the intro, the ending, and of course the dancing FMV.

Metal Gear Solid and MGS2 got plenty of my time, especially when I played MGS2 on extreme and it took me quite some time. Rollercoaster Tycoon was excellent for the PC and I played that for hours on end.

To this day though, FFX has been the most fulfilling experience for me and my true "obsession" game, though like Ryu said (kudos to him) I wasn't out summoning Aeons or playing blitzball.
