Who's gonna be the next Joker?
The Batman Begins thread made me wonder what do you guys think about who could be the next Joker, if there will be a sequel to the latest Batman movie.
Also, what other villains will be in it and who could play their roles. I think the Scarecrow could be back, hoping this time his part will be improved. As for the Joker, surpassing Jack Nicholson is almost impossible, but I bet they will cast some big name. Too bad they probably won't cast Willem Dafoe, since he's been picked as the Green Goblin in Spiderman. He'd be perfect imo.

It surely does beat who I had in mind for him. Nicolas Cage or John Travolta. I was going by their roles in Face Off. (don't bite my head off for the choices)

thats dangerous ground to tread on
Jack was the Joker I cant even fathom anyone even trying to fill those shoes. Depp is a great actor but I dunno for those that havent seen the movie just skip this last part *************************spolier**** I would like it if Raz comes back. Hes too important of a character to stay dead. And Scarecrow was alright for a start but there needed to be more to him. He escaped like a punk. I'd like to see Joker and Harlequin shed have to be damn sexy too...not sure who could fill her but she'd be great beside Joker |

I'm less concerned about the joker and more about the NEED and NECESSITY that Catwoman returns soon. I heart Catwoman. But yes, it will be hard to replace Jack N.

My pick would be Benicio Del Toro, if only for his role as Jackie Boy in Sin City. He could probably pull off a believable Joker and still maintain the hard-nose attitude and flamboyancy that Nicholson managed to do so well.

I just have to randomly say (now it's been mentioned) how much I loved Sin City.

i dont know if any of you are fans of the comics but in the knight fall series and such... there was the big plan with all the villians.. kindof hinted at at the end to that whole plot.... but anyways... in teh beginning with crane.... he was going for a certain crimminal by the name of pzaz. or some shit... i cant remember how to spell it right now... but he was an insane knife guy. i'de like to see him somehow put in the movies..cause i loved his character in the comix.
i'de have to second the role for depp as joker. cause i really cant think of anyone else. its quirky enough for sure... but as mad said... jack was the joker... no two ways about it. then again... gene was willie wonka.. and we'll see how depp goes into that role... then maybe he can take on some other big shoe'd remake roles.. .cause he is so damn pretty that is all

Nicholson IS the Joker, but there could be some decent actors for that role. What about... John Turturro? Or Adrien Brody? I can see both as the Joker (with all the make-up on).
I hope Scarecrow doesn't have a big part in the next movie, if there will be one. Most of all I hope they don't add Robin! It would be cool to have something more focused on the Batman/Joker antagonism. Some minor cameo for a secondary villain or two would be cool. Last edited by Hylas; Jun 20th, 2005 at 09:37 AM.. |

The white make-up may do nicely on him though. Not actually sure if he could fit that joker role though. He do have the craziness though. (Charlies Angel's) Unless we're talking about 2 different people? To DragonSphere. Is that the guy from The Haunted with Tommy Lee Jones?

to me if they make another movie they cant include the joker since in the original batman move joker was created and destryoed in that movie. He was Jack then he fell in that acid or whatever and then died at the end. It just doesn't work for me.
New characters only in my mind.

Yes! Since reading the comic books and hearing that they filmed the stories completely, I can't wait for the directors cut that is apparently on the DVD. Oh and the sequel! A Dame To Kill For and Hell and Back will be ace.

Spoiler: show Tim Burton gave his own interpretation of Batman, adding a lot of inventions that are not loyal to the comics. Not that this means it hurts to have a movie inspired by comics that doesn't follow the original story, but that is what Batman Begins tries to avoid, remaining more loyal to the comic books, and that's why it cannot be connected to the older movies., thus there would be nothing wrong to have a sequel to the new Batman with the Joker and other villains who previously appeared in other Batman flicks. |

Keanu Reeves wouldn't make a cool Joker! His face and ways are not psychotic or nervous enough, he's as creepy and intriguing as Ken, the plastic boyfriend of Barbie!
