There is this new system coming out soon, that is next year..... being produced by Digital Interactive Systems Corp.

But the only difference is.....it isn't actually a NEW system, but just a machine that looks like a console, but would have the ability to play all the PC games on your TV.

Gamers who buy the sytem need to hook it online via its broadband port or dial up modem. At night the Discover will call in to DISC's servers and download special scripts that tell it how to instantly intall, update and configure commercial PC games.

I read all that in last month's IGN. And I know its not exactly going to last......... as people will have an option to buy different versions of DISCover, depending..... the more expensive means better graphic chip and faster processor.

I think I am totally intrested in it....... I will buy it...... as I love PC games, but cant play them, as I dont have a strong PC. ........ .. . ..

But if I could change my vote, I'll change it to no. I already have a PC and if I wanna play games on my T.V. I'll just hook it up to my T.V. through my vid card.

PC games are always changing in terms of graphics. Down the road it wouldnt be able to play the newest games very smooth. We shouldnt have to push down the details cause of hardware limitations. If I paid for something for gaming I would want to play games to thier maximum detail.

I also voted "Who?..Wha?..Nevermind.!." As Chara said computer games are always changing. I wouldn't want to pay that much for something when for the same amount of money I could upgrade my computer which would be a lot more help. I assume that it would cost at least $200.00. I don't think it would be worth it in the long wrong. I don't buy that many computer games any way so it would be that much more worthless to me. I would have to know more to even consider buying it though. Plus in a year or so I'm going to have to think of a way to save money for the next generation of consoles. That will cost a pretty penny too.

I voted that ive always wanted to play my PC games on TV. Only because my CPU isnt very reliable. I didnt say id buy one, just that it would be nice to have

I did not vote, since there is not an option that would fit what I would vote for. Maybe yes, maybe not. I would have to see it first. It does sound interesting, very interesting, mostly for people who does not use PC's at all for anything else than gaming.

But then probably I would not, since I will buy me a freakass PC whenever I get the chance. But maybe even having a PC it would be convenient to have this "console" if I don't happen to have my PC and my TV in the same room.

It also depends on the price, of course.

I might consider getting it if I ever hit it big, but right now FFXI is the only PC game I really want so I wouldn't get much use outta it.

an interesting idea... yet it seems a bit silly to me. For starters, using a TV has no benefit passed being able to crowd round the TV with it (which is useless given that virtually no PC games have some kind of splitscreen / multiplayer options with just one system - people who sit and watch games have way too much time on their hands). Aside from this:

1. Its not like a Monitor is less affordable than a TV.
2. a TV has terrible resolution capabilites (well... some special TVs may be better... and god knows how expensive as well), so having a decent system will have no effect.
3. Most modern video cards do the TV-Out thing by now anyway.

Apart from this, there is no way of upgrading the box once you've brought it (upgrading, no matter how expensive is vital to PC gaming.) Also, the features of the system seem to require that all games for the system are patched in a special way with these scripts. This could affect the ability to play Multiplayer titles, and one of the PC's greatest assets (a back catalogue that goes back around 2 decades) may not be catered for, with only the "important" releases cattered for (and who's to say what these are?)

and finally, why buy a PC in a box when you can buy a decent Console? presumably having this thing looses you the opportunity to do all the other things that PCs are used for...
