How do you know when it's time to break up?

I've been thinking about how my past relationships went sour one way or another and I don't want to repeat the same mistakes the next time around. My parents always said that you pick the person whose faults you can most live with. Aside from maybe finding out that she has a fault or two that can't be tolerated, what other signs can be indications that things aren't gonna work no matter how hard you try? What indicators do you look for to determine when it's time to throw in the towel, cut bait and cut losses?

It's horrible to say but I usually wait until I can't stand the person... it's really not good for me or him but I feel too bad breaking up ahead of time when he first starts to bother me... I've had three boyfriends. The first broke up with me (I later found out he was a huge liar so that was for the best), and the other two I really don't even like to talk to anymore because they bother me so much... Isn't that aweful?!

Anyway, to answer your question, I guess you'll just /know/. I think you should be able to tell just by looking at them. Just don't follow my examples and wait too long to break it off!

For me it's when she starts do get on my nerves or pisses me off, but im on about big style, other ways when you know its time is, never seeing each other or talking, even if its on the phone, you soon find out with SMS saying you're dumped.

For example i've got this girl now and I want to get rid, I dont need a G/F at this point, just going out when you're single is brilliant without fear someone spotting you with your tongue down there throat!

I wouldn't say when you get into alot of fights, because after every fight.......the "other" stuff just keeps getting better and better.

I would say when the person starts lying to you about little things, could be anything....... there shouldn't be anything to hide in a solid relationship. I cant stand the fact if my girlfriend tells me that she has to go to bed early because of school tomorrow, and then the next day goes to her friend's place to hangout.

Oh and also when she kisses another guy. (Thats a big sign).

When you fight more than you make love, then the time has come to put it to an end.
When she says she needs time to think about herself and your relationship and you find out she's been spending that time with another guy....it's time to kick her to the curve.
And when you find you somehow feel the need to be with another girl, then you'll best do yourself and your g/f a favour and end it before you hurt her by cheating on her, cause in the long run that's whats gonna happen.

I must say, I'm pretty slow when it comes to these things. Not only regarding love, but also regarding relationships, I tend to say "Ok, now the situation is pretty bad, but it could get better if I wait some time". And this way it happens that I give more time than necessary to relationships that are almost dead T_T

But betrayal or lies, as others said, are evidence things are bad enough to break up. Forgiving a person who's always lying to you won't make things go better after some time. They'll get worse and worse with the passing of time.

I think everyone that said about when she lies to you bad, not like little things when ''ummm'' I can'y think of anything now. But when you know that she's lieing big time, just break up. because like what MakGSnake said if she kisses another person boy/girl. Than that mean she dosen't like you anymore, or she just found a hotter boyfriend/or girlfriend. (im not making fun of any of you). Or she's just using him as a dirty rag for his money. Then it's totaly bye bye with that girl of yours.. Thats what I think, so just don'y listen to me if you don't think that's right. If you think that's righ than post about something I said If you like, or if you want. Done!
