I have asthma :(
I went to the doctor today to get the news about some test i did last week. It turns out i have Severe something combine with mild something else. Im not sure what the terms are. This means i have to take 2 puffers daily for the rest of my life. In most cases when caught early you can eventually go back to one puffer whenever you need it, but mine is so far along that its a good chance i will need it everyday for years to come.
It really explains a lot about my past. My shortness of breath when playing sports and my lack of energy that made me just want to stay inside on a nice day. I can believe the doctors never picked up on this before. Oh well, life goes on i guess. Just wanted to pass on my news.

Omg, JJ I'm so sorry to hear that. Having asthma is probably one of the worst things to happen...it's also a hassle to carry around the inhaler and be cautious on what activities you can do. Again, I'm sorry to hear this...
Maybe the reason why the doctors didn't pick up on your asthma when you were younger is because you had acute asthma? A very mild case that doctors think would go away as you mature into adulthood. That's probably why they didn't say anything.

Yeah, i'm not as bad as you are, but i knida know how you feel. I have acute asthma, which seems to be getting slightly worse, but unfortunately, i dont have a chance to actually get medication for it, because i am in the army, so i cant have asthma and be in the army. if i actually go to try to geds meds for it, they will boot me out. Sory to hear about it man, but at least you have medication for it now, so it will probably stabilize and maybe improve. I'm just gonna get worse, so im gonna have to quit smoking till im out of the army. Maybe all the exercise ill get in there will help me out tho'

I'm really sorry for you moo! But don't be afraid or sad, many other people have the same problem and they seem to be ok. Their lives are perfectly normal. They have to take some meds as you and be cautious regarding some activities, but apart from that they're fine, so I hope you can be fine too! Asthma is a common disease nowadays, and some therapy, following the guidelines of your doctor, will probably work and help you feeling better!
Take care! |

As i was once an Asthma sufferer, I'd have liked to have been able to relate to your situation, but I was one of the luckier ones: I was diagnosed early, took an inhaler from the age of about 5-9 and then never had to use it again. I never suffered an attack, so it was hardly harsh then.
Tbh though, so long as you never suffer an Attack (and now you're on medication, and given the fact that if you'd already had one, you'd surely have been declared Asthmatic, You probably won't have one.), Asthma isn't so terrible. Taking an Inhaler twice a day will become second nature after a while... Just like cleaning your teeth or somthing. That should hold it back a bit, and unless you want to do really strenuous exercise, you should be fine.

I too have Asthma but it will only run your life if you let it. Try not to take your puffers to much or you will become depentant on them. I have mild asthma and I play rugby so its not all that bad. But you will have to keep warm in the winter or it flare up.

Asthma isn't anything to be sad about really. It's not that bad at all...I've had it all my life and eventually you don't even need an inhaler, and two puffers a day isn't really bad, one when you wake up and one when you sleep. And if you've lived with it this long you will only get better now that you have treatment.
