New York New York - really a dangerous place?
I've a big curiosity. I watch a lot of movies, and as you may know, New York is often the place where good part of U.S. movies take place.
Now, the image I get from these movies and from newspapers is the image of a really dangerous city; today I went into a bookstore and looked at a tourist guide for New York - in one of the first pages, where the "important indications for the tourist" were, it's written: "It's always better to move by Taxi and to avoid the Underground. After 7 p.m. it's necessary to not walk alone in unknown streets, and the Underground must be abolutely avoided." Now, I think many of you are from New York: is it really a dangerous place? Did something bad ever happened to you in New York? And what about your home city? When I asked the above question to a friend of mine who lives in New York he said: "no nothing bad ever happened to me. Well, my uncle was a Taxi Driver in New York and a punk shot him in the head". |

I dont live in NewYork but I have been to Manhattan alot of times, and to be honest, its alot safer then before...... actually I visited the place before 911, and it was awesome, people were outside even after 12am, and that also on the 42nd street, which happened to be the most dangerous before. But its quite safe now, ......... still If you walk anywhere in any city where there is no one around and dark and all, you will encounter something bad (not all the time, but chances are higher).
Bronx on the other hand is a place you might not wanna go, especially if you dont know anyone there....... if you do, I think your a little safe then. But crime happens everywhere.....and people get shot almost in every single city on this planet.

Sure NY can be dangerous...but so can anywhere else...I hear Detroits full of crime so why are we just pinpointing New York?

Ive nevr been to NY but I live in Ohio and ive had the misfortune of having to go to detroit for some Red Wings games (Go Wings !!) . I can tell you that Detroit is a dirty shithole of a place (Atleast the parts we drove through) The parts that arent smog ridden pollution factorys are dirty crime ridden gheddoes full of extreemly mean looking (Black) people. I try and stay clear of that place unless its entirely neccesary . Of course thiere are probably some nice spots in the city too I just never saw any. Oh yeah theres also alot of Lions fans thier, another reason to stay far faaar away.

Went on a vacation last year to NY loved it. Going back this year it's the best city in the world ( besides amsterdamn )
Like most cities better stay clear of certain barios when you've got no business there and you'll do fine.

Sorry for bitching, not that I got anything against you, I just thought those two posts are pretty usless bud, and the first one I quoted was definately spam.. Now to be on-topic, I Have the idea that Y is a crime ridden place at night in certain areas, mainly because of TV n Films, obviously, that isn't a source to beleive.Ive been to NY once for the weekend, but I didnt encounter any crie.. But NY does have a crime problem, although it may be exagerrated. |

if u wanna talk about dangerous cities.
Baltimore is easily one of the most dangerous places. highest teen pregnancy rate, highest death rate among lower-class citizens, highest drug user rate. Baltimore is probably the most dangerous city in North America. another extremely dangerous place is Crenshaw

Yeah Baltimore Is a real bad place, I know that from a Tupac Documentary lol, you seen it killuminati? It's called "Thug Angel".
Not much danger up in Scotland, theres the few gang related Murders in Glasgow (Rare) but Violent crimes don't seem to be heard of (although they definately exist, the papers just dont report it) But I like not having to look over my shoulder lol. |
