Top Hat Demeanor
Top Hat Demeanor
Can you hope to decipher the scriptures The scriptures I possess I bear those marks across me Decorating the outskirts of my flesh So I hide my emotions from the world Turning them away For emotions lead to weaknesses Which is a risk I cannot pay But I keep the battle scars hidden Underneath the clothe Wrapped tightly around my disfigured past Hoping they wind up lost The shadows serve as my sanctuary The silence my only friend The one’s who have betrayed me Will soon meet their end… But until then I’ll stand here With my head pointed towards the ground With the brim of a hat protecting me Humming the tune of a lifeless sound…

I like it. Its very well written with good introspective analysis of emotion. I think we can all associate with such feelings one way or another.

Good emotional poem and accurate usage of words to describe feelings, and yes, I agree that it can be related to everybody's life, more or less.
