Sequels?
Would you like the idea of sequels for some Final Fantasy games? Not all of them are good for sequels, but the ending of some of them could be connected to another game. Do you think it'd be good for Square start making sequels?

*spoilers* But for some games, I like the idea: Final Fantasy 7 has a kinda confusing ending... and its also a very very popular game. Final Fantasy IV has the original badass (Kain) who never really finishes his story (he's still jealous of Cecil, still scared of how he was contorlled etc.)... They would make good "Sequel" games, unlike FF5, FF8 and FF9, which were expertly rounded off (except perhaps the fact that Square never bothered to tell us that Laguna is Squall's dad, and all the "is Rinoa, Ultemecia" stuff... But hey, thats what fan-fiction is for right? ) Oh and apart from the offical ones, there are plenty of unoffical sequels around made by fans on RPG creators.... I'm quite looking foward to Final Fantasy VI : The Power Within, but then Relm's the main character ^_^

Every Final Fantasy game is good as it is IMO, and it doesn't need a sequel. The ending of some of them let you think there could be a sequel, but for example only because not all main characters die is it really necessary to make the story go on? Or create a new story based on the same characters?
The greatest part of Final Fantasy game are created only for the story you see in the game, and they're balanced because the have a certain hero and villain plus a number of secondary characters. If you defeat the villain, what's the point in making another game with same heroes but different bad guy? Or if the main character ended his quest/story/life (or whatever) why making another game? Or if the mystery behind the plot is revealed, why creating a new mystery for the same game? In general, I don't like the idea of making sequels out of every single successful game. Some games are created with the precise intention of having sequels, some others are not. |

I'd be all for it, as long as it's done right. I'd love a new game starring the main FFVII cast.

I'm not sure it'd be a good idea, especially for some FF games. There are others like FF8 and FF9 that could be easily transformed into sequels, but I doubt they would be as good as the original ones.

Depends on the game and also on the quality of the sequel. But I like to think about FF games more as one shot games, not made to be divided into more episodes.

Ok you'll have to excuse me for this as I dont really have a good enough argument as to why I dont like the idea.
Basically I just hate any thought of there being equals of any FF the very thought makes me cringe One reason being sequals are HARDLY (if ever) better than the original so why do it? Sure there will be a pact of fans demanding them but surely just a new FF will satisfy them.

I wouldn't mind FF sequels as long as they have been done well and if the game had the right sort of story or ending that a sequel.
As long as they don't over do them, then there fine with me.

Only certain FFs would make good sequels. FFT is in the process of getting one. FFIV and FFV might have some nice sequels, but I prefer original FFs.
