Moomin
Today I was watching TV and it happened to my eye to get caught by some weird anime called Moomin. It was about strange creatures, similar to hippos. The show was nice and colorful, maybe a bit child-oriented, but relaxing and funny. It was also extremely original in content, even if the stories were very simple and the plot pretty linear.
Does anybody know more about it? I could only watch 2 eps. and I don't know if I'll be able to watch more in the future.

Strictly speaking, Moomin isn't anime (anime ja nai!)... It's almost definately European, specifically Scandanavian... Finnish? All I know about it... it's been around for years and years and years, before I was a teenager (about 10 years +). I don't remember watching it much, but it wasn't on much either. Doesn't one of the Moomins have ginger hair? I always thought that looked really silly

Moomins are Finnish trolls, as Finnish is their author Tove Jansson (there are comics she wrote with her brother, but Moomin books are mainly novels). I think the first book came out in the late 40's or so.. so yes kupo, they definitely came out before you were a teenager Japanese producers in the 80's made an anime about them though... partly based on the books partly not. They even made a theme park dedicated to Moomins in Japan. The anime is nice but the books are completely different thing... much more entertaining, a lot of humour, fantastic pieces of artworks as illustrations. I suggest you to get some of these books if you liked the anime. You'll like them even more

Right, I knew they weren't Japanese characters, but credits of the TV show were clearly mentioning Japanese names. I was confused... If I'll be able to find them, I think I'll try some of the books

Moomins are fun! I had a couple of illustrated books when I was a kid
The anime is cute, but I don't like it much. After some eps becomes boring. The books are more fun to read at least from what I can remember... |
