Help Required from Anime Experts and Collectors
These days I was thinking a lot, while reading some manga books, about older anime I used to watch when I was young. We also had here, at the forums, some kind of discussion on a couple of occasions, about older anime. Well, I have a great desire to watch some of these old anime again and I think for this purpose I could ned somebody's help. I know some of you collect anime DVDs. Do you know of any online seller who also has older stuff? Stuff from the 80's or earlier? I would be really grateful

It's so difficult to find 70's-80's anime. For the entire month of October, I went on a search to find classic animes because I was in the mood to watch some. Unfortunately, I came out with nothing except maybe finding one luck.
In order to get older animes, I think the only way is by bootlegs. There are places where you can get bootlegs of the entire series of an old anime show...but with these, subtitling can be off or just plain terrible. Also, older animes tend not to be transferred onto DVD form. So, you may have to resort to distribution of VHS. There are some forums where people trade tapes of old anime shows they've tape and whatnot. Unfortunately, one of the forums I found a few months back, I lost the address and can't find it again. But, Panuru, I don't know what you're looking for, but I had luck with Amazon UK because un-friggin'-belivably they had put an old show that I love on DVD. Seriously, I've been searching for this series since, like, the beginning of time and I couldn't find it until now. Thank you Amazon UK! So, you may be able to find something there, I'm not sure... Then, there's also Anime Vagabond which are downloaded series onto VHS, but I was able to find some classic stuff, like Akage no Anne and 3000 Leagues in Search of Mother. Okay, then you might want to try Anime Art/Stand where it has bootleg DVDs from Hong Kong. But, this place may have many classic titles because I bought a series from them that I've been looking for (Tongari Boshi no Memoru/My Neighbor Memoru). Finally, there's the ever popular Ebay. If you type in some of the titles you are thinking about, it may come up. Or you can type in "classic anime" and something might come up too; I tried this and I was able to find some old ones I used to watch, such as Sea Prince and Fire Child, Swan Lake, Daddy Long Legs, and even Unico. Hope this helps Panuru...what titles are you looking for, just curious.

Well meryl, thanks for the help. Amazon wasn't of any help, but the other two have some titles. Too bad I think they're a bit too expensive". I mean... 45$ for a single DVD maybe isn't much, but when you have to buy 9 or 10 to get the whole series ....
I wasn't looking for only one series. I had several in mind, mostly stuff I used to watch when I was a kid. I guess it'll be a lot easier and cheaper for now to keep on buying manga of these series instead of getting DVDs. If I ever win a lottery, I'll think about spending 500+$ for some anime series |

I'm glad those links helped you out Panuru and LrdAlucard. Yes, anime does cost a lot unfortunately...as I said, there are those forums where people can trade old VHS tapes (which they recorded from TV) but sometimes, these are also very expensive...

I would like to watch some older stuff. I could find some VHS (original) and DVD at the local store, but there they're very very expensive too! And for many series they don't even have all episodes! I don't like the idea of spending so much for not complete series
