I agree, that foul was a huge pile of bull But you had to be a fool if you were expecting the US team to get anywhere near to the finals, specially when it was Italy and Czec Republic they were faring against in order to qualify further.

Cool for Ghana that they reach the next round, it will be a party in some parts of the city. Brazil's squad seems to regaining their form, they played well against Japan however how well they do against a good side remains to be seen.

Four red cards! I expected it to be a bad match, but not this bad Holland never looked like scoring(except Cocu). I think van Basten will think again about his choice of players, we didn't have any real scoring potential without Huntelaar. Our defence wasn't that bad, but in this world cup campaigne we scored 3 times and got 2 goals against us. Well done to Portugal for beating us yet again. Portugal vs England will be an interesting match with Portugal missing a lot of key players and Rooney seems to be finding his old form back(played the whole 90 minutes and never looked tired in the hot weather). This is when the really interesting matches are coming up.

Given Portugal's conditions, I am pretty sure that England will win, although my heart goes with Portugal.

England didn't play well yesterday, if they keep on playing like that, it's not impossible for Portugal to win.
PS: Italy sucked. I don't think they have many chances if they keep on counting on lucky exploits. |

Yet again Italy pulls off barely winning with dramatics. I think only Argentina dives more than you guys. I give Italy credit for great acting but very little else. You may have deserved that penalty shot, but YOU ARE LUCKY
Australia came THIS close to rightfully beating you. Rest assured, the Socceroos played BEAUTIFUL futbol! Australian soccer has officially entered a new phase of excellence. I am done here. _RED_ stuff

I'm not referring to Australia, but Mexico deserved to be there a lot more than Italy. It's a shame they had to go home. Same goes for Ecuador.
Red, stop saying "you" when you talk about Italian players I don't care if they reach the finals or not. I'm the first to say they're crappy and boring and I'm often surprised when they win after they play like that. I mean, they won against teams that are not very strong, and they suffered a lot. It's a shame for a country with such a long and renowned football tradition. |

Australia didn't play that good IMO, they couldn't get Italy in the corner with a man more situation Italy kept on coming out dangerous and about the penalty that's italian football right there they're very clever and cunning. If they keep playing like that they won't get any further against a more skilled team though.
PS Panuru when is the verdict in the bribing-case against AC, Juve, Fiorentina and Lazio? Plus what do you think about the fact that all the teams get punished except AC seems to get away easy....

They didn't play bad, but with an experienced manager like Hiddink and experienced, skilled players like Viduka, Cahill, Kewell(didn't play I think) they could of had Italy cornered and beaten. To me it came as no surprise that they played well in this WC, but maybe I expected more.

It's starting to become a very interesting tournament. Still backing England though. We have real depth in the squad (barring strikers) and should we get past the spectre of Big Phil, we'll push an off form Brazil all the way, that is if they beat France. If we end up playing France in the semi-finals, then it becomes easier. I'm worried about Portugal though, but with injuries and suspensions we should do it. We just need to believe we can, which isn't really a part of the English mentality. We're all pessimists here, but I choose to be optimistic!

Argh, that was hard to watch. I should have been pessimistic, but still. We played the last hour amazingly, backs against the wall. It really hurts to go out on penalties again. 1996, 1998, 2004, 2006...

It must be a curse. Next time better for England to call an exorcist! Yes, I suggest let Max Von Sydow play!
Anyway, now we have a Portuguese speaking team... Brazil can go home. Let's be creative |

So this means Germany vs Italy, and Portugal vs France. I've been hopping so bad for Portugal to be sent back home, but they just keep going! grr...yes, it's very unpatriotic of me, but i'm still hoping for the same. And since i've been so wrong, i bet on a Germany vs Portugal for the final. Although i really wish for France to beat us next wednesday. *crosses fingers*
