Extras?
Do you like extra bonus materials in your games, that have nothing to to with the actual gameplay?
examples include: trailers, making of videos, art gallery etc.

not really... PC games never have them, but thats where they'd be most welcome: Stuff like Art Galleries look terrible on a TV screen, and you can't exactly have a decent look at the pictures. The rest is all very well and good, but I associate it with one thing only: Feeble excuse as to why the PAL release of the game looks like its viewed between a fat guy's fingers, and a horridly diminshed frame rate. Extras are only fan service though, and I don't think a game i'm actually a fan of has yet come with extras

extras are nice..but only if they come on a seperate disc ya know? ..I mean when i get a game with alot of extra material it's like taking away from the main experiance that i'm paying for. So it isn't really extra at all.. Like the developers are saying "oh look at all the room we had left over lets just fill it in with pictures of us and all sorts of other crap...like Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance for example..
here's a game that could've been alot better..had Midway put more polish on it. Like the one fatality mess.. they could've got rid of about 90% of the garbage that was in the krypt and used that memory towards making a few more fatalities or even more moves for the characters. Then there's the "A day in the life of Midway"....it's like yes, i really want to know how Ed Boon spends his day at work. It's not just MKDA though other games are doing the same type of thing..not many though which is a good thing. Another good sign is that those that do this type of thing are intregating the extras into the gameplay..like the art gallery in xenosaga that can be accessed thru the network casino..that's acceptable right there. I just think that extras should really be put on a seperate disc if not intregated into the gameplay somehow.

MKDA was the exact thing i was thinking of. they put way too much crap into the game, and you would have to cheat to even hope to get all the shit you want out of the crypt. why do i need a whole
s%^&load of pics of the designers??

Not that I care for them but it's not like they cause any pain. I mean look at DOA: Beach Volleyball. If the casino wasn't in there the game wouldn't hold your attention for more then 20 minutes.
The only problem I have with them is if the game sucks and there are tons of extras. I would much rather the game be good with no extras.

Depends on the extras. For example, when I get a DVD and I have all the extras like interviews, trailers etc... I find them to be interesting as background material. "Making of" videos are especially appealing to me. They're not necessary (otherwise they wouldn't be called extras ) but when they add them not only to fill "blank space" I think it's good to have the chance to take a look at them. Different story is for artworks. I don't like photos or artworks as extras. They're often low quality or very small shots that cannot be compared to artworks or photo books.
Of course if the game is really bad, I have no much interest in watching bonuses |

Yes... I always like the extras. Especially "The Making Of".... Art galleries doesn't really intrest me...... only if they are as good as shown in "The Document of Metal Gear Solid 2".
Like the making video in "Hot Pursuit 2" was really good, and same with the documentary of "NAVY SEALS" in SOCOM was excellent. But yeah sometimes its just waste....... example the added bonus stuff in "Midtown Madness 3" is nothing but corny stupid jokes and waste of my time. What I liked with Playstation 1 games was the fact that most of the games when used in a CD PLAYER, would give out the sound tracks of the game. I always thought that was amazing. May be cause I love music, and some music tracks that I got from "Aliens Trilogy" game and "Carmegaddon" game are simply amazing that for me are super extras.

Like Digi said an extra disc is nice otherwise I have the feeling it's filling up the blank space on the game disc. There are however some games that have very cool extra's on the game disc, that contribute something to the game especially if you like unlock them by finishing the game. Medal of honor is perfect with the whole computeranimation stripped it looks so cool and also the video of the crew paintballing( if I remember correctly) is not neccesary but fun.
