If you were of the fortunate few that played the original Gungrave, this is surely exciting news.

Gungrave OD, the sequel to last year's slick badass shooter is aiming for a PS2 release. The series' main character, Beyond the Grave, is back with a new mechanical coffin and outfit. So far, we know about two new characters: a man named Rocket Billy Red Cadillac who wears a red costume and carries a guitar (we doubt it's an ordinary guitar), and a man named Kabane Juuji who wears a quilted coat over a black costume, with a flame burning over his right shoulder and two gun-swords as weapons. Series producer, Toru Kubo, said that the original Gungrave was meant for quick intense gameplay in short time spans, but players who couldn't find it's incredible depth of it complained and labelled it as shallow.

Thus, Gungrave OD (Over-dose) will feature more replay value than the original. The stages will be larger as well. Yasuhiro Nightow of Trigun fame is back along with Kousuke Fujishima, the man behind Ah! My Goddess. It's developement is currently 20 percent and is scheduled for a spring 2004 release in Japan. An anime based on Gungrave and produced by Studio Madhouse is scheduled to begin airing in Japan in October.

What a great time it is for El Mariach fans. First we have Once Upon a Time In Mexico this September, and hopefully we'll have the game hit American shores by next fall.

The first one was pretty damn fun, albeit the 2-hour or less timespan of beating the game. If promises hold true, then the sequel should rock.

Sega has released new details on their PlayStation 2 gun action game GunGrave Overdose. This time the stages will be much larger than before, there are new combo gunfire attacks, you can jump behind enemies and hide behind objects. It is also possible to interact with various background objects, such as exploding cars, show down objects from the ceilings, destroy pillar and walls, and leave bullet holes on the walls.

I wish Nightow would make "Trigun : The Planet Gunsmoke" though, but it's probably been cancelled. That short clip for it was soo good

I'll probably buy Gunrave 2 if it makes up for the flaws in the original, I heard it was rather crappy so I stayed clear.

i read some rumors that sega might show the new trigun game at the tokyo game show. i hope its true.

It's been nearly two years since the news of the Trigun game came out. I'm sure it's likely cancelled.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the Gungrave sequel. I enjoyed the first game because of the cool character/weapon designs and I can't wait to see what the two new characters can do.

BTW, for those interested, the Gungrave anime (yes, there is an anime!) has been licensed by Pioneer Entertainment and is expected to arrive in the US around 2004.
