Im not too sure if anyone here is from NZ but I am And our Firetrucking stupid Government have just made the biggest mistake they could ever make by making prostitution legal in New Zealand. I cant believe this its like they havent heard of AIDS or somthing.

It would be somewhat beneficial if the governmant legalized it, but also made it into only for brothel houses. In a majority of places that have brothel houses, the prostitutes have to get STD tests every month, but they should also make it so that people have to get tests before they can get into the "house", so that anyone actually using them have to be clean, this way they can control any spread of STD's, as well as allowing people to get out sexual frustration. In these areas, the amount of rape would probably be reduced, since people can just go and pay to have sex legally, rather than forcing themselves upon people. It would be beneficial to society in my opinion. Many people have no problem with pornography, which is simply taped prostitution. The people get paid to have sex, and they also have a good time doing it.

Yeah those are good points but the NZ govt needs to worring about more important issuses, like education, health, new roading and teen suicide not prostitution. Its very frustrating for me at the moment because no matter how desprite I got I would NEVER pay for sex not even as a dare.

I too would never pay for sex but lets face it, legal or not prostistution will ALWAYS exist. And why fill up our jails with guys who have done nothing to hurt anyone else. I mean does someoen deserve to spend years in jail for paying to have sex with someoen in private ? But then again would making it legal bring it to my street ? Prostitution is a dirty bussinus and should stay underground as it is now. I saw a television special that showed how modern brothels work and it seems to me they are very safe and far less dangerous for the girls. I think legalizing things like this and making more of them would reduce the amount of prostitution done in neighborhoods where there are childeren. And would prove somewhat beneficial. But then again its a very tricky subject. Ive never been bother by prostotution but I hear in many places its a major problem.

It is definitely a major problem in some areas. Around here, there are a lot of crack whores. They walk up and down the street, sucking some guy off for nothing more than a sliver of crack. Along the one-mile stretch of major road by my house, there are about 15-20 hookers that i can identify just by looking at them. They have often asked me for cigarettes, and then asked if they could give me a blow job for ten bucks. It sickens me how many of them there are in such a small area. Something needs to be done to improve this area in consideration of how it makes it seem so cheap and disgusting.

Thats what im saying wouldnt it be better if those girls were in an organized brothel located away from densly populated ereas getting payed properly for thier actions ? rather than having them roam the streats in plain site making offers to strange men. Also in brothels I hear there women are tested over and over for std's. I wouldnt go to one of these places but it seems like it would be a good alternative to what your experiencing

But then again crack whore may just be helpless becuase I think they force there girls to take drug tests at many brothels too. Atleast at the one I saw on TV they did

That's my point. If they started legalizing brothels, then the crack whores would be off the streets. They may charge less than a brothel, but then again, people would probably avoid them since it is such a risk for diseases. Also, there is the chance that they would end up getting caught by police.

I disagree strongly. Paying for sexual favors from an illegal prostitute is not only dangerous (makes for easy disease spreading) but it also condones the treatment of these women by their pimps and all of the other abuse they go through daily form the very practice of illegal prostitution. Advocating that kind of treatment of these women I strongly belive to be extremely wrong. I know what you might say...that many of these women bring this onto themselves by choosing to live the lives they lead, but it's extremely naive to think it's that simple. Many factors play into where these young women end up. And there are also the women who are forced into it from a very young age and know no other life. For these women it is especially unfair. As long as people keep paying for illegal prostitutes there will be a demand for them and young girls even who aren't old enough to have sex will be sold like meat. Everything indeed has become commercialized. Even human beings.

About the organized legal brotherl houses set up to make prostitution more safe, by checking for STD's, cracking down on the mistreatment of these women who want to sell their bodies for whatever reason... I believe there is a lot of good intent in that and I will comment more on it later. But I still wonder how those girls get there and what kinds of things have happened to them in their lives to make them do that with themselves. I still would not agree with the condoning of such acts even in a place such as that totally.

It's very sad, but it doesn't work that way. I live in amsterdam the city has one of the biggest red light districts of the world, we had legalized prostitution for a long time. But still if you go behind the central station and the theemsweg you've got many heroinewhores and the most disturbing fact is that you see one after an other BMW and Mercedes-Benz stop to pick up the women. Those guys could easily pay the most expensive call-girls but they chose not to, because they get a kick out of f%#$^# with a crackwhore and probably just kicking her ass around. It's really a sick world, there are guys who have unprotected sex with a hooker and go home and sleep with their wives and infecting her with the disease. And the hookers have no choice they need the money for there drugs and no brothel will have them in. So even if you legalize prostitution the illegal prostitution will always stay and may even grow( when they get kicked out of a brothel they go work the street).

I think the sad but true fact here is that were never going to stop Porstitution, if there were some way to reduce it or make it a bit safer id be all for it. Of course as red said its not as easy as just opening brothels, theres never a clear cut solution to a porblem as wide spread as this. But its clear to me that throwing prostitutes and the men they service in jail clearly hasnt done the job, and serves only to overcrowd the prison system even further . But I guess unitll a real solution can be found thats what will continue to happen. Prostitutes will do there thing and eventually end up in jail. They will get out and probably go back to doing the same thing until they end up in jail while there pimps remain safely behind the scenes waiting for them. I watched a tv special and the police officer they interviewed said the women he pulls in for prostitution he has arrested numerous times . A very Sticky situation (Excuse the pun)

No, thats wrong, I cant beleive your gov has made that choice, prostitution is just dirty, aslong as it is safe sex, and no one gets hurt its ok, but still ILLEGAL in my book , but now gangs will probally take advantage in your country of it, I dont agree with making prostitution illegal at the same time im LMAO that this is a joke.
