MGS1: Shooting in FPV with the Socom
I here, I'm a n00b here. Just came here to ask a question, since you guys know a lot more about this game than me. I've started playing this game a few days ago, an something odd happened.
I was trying to throw a grenade in one of those little holes in the wall were you have to crawl to go in. The way was blocked by a grid, I I though there might be a way to blow it up. So I threw my grenade from a distance and pushed the FPV button to see if the grenade had entered the hole. Now I don't know what I really did, all I know is that, upon having released my finger from the FPV button, I was still in FPV. Not only was I still in FPV, but I could actually walk while being in FPV!!! I tried to kick and I could actually punch (altough I couldn't see Snake's fists while doing this) and then I tried to switch weapons (yes I could do that) and switched for the Socom. Then there was a nice little laser, not like the usual laser you see in 3rd person view, it looked more real, more like the laser in MGS2. I didn't have to push the weapon button for the laser to show and I could shoot and move while in FPV. Now someone tell me if this is just a bug or there really IS a way to play MGS like a FPS? I don't think it is a bug, since the laser was different, and I didn't have to hold the weapon button for it to show. |

well I tried to do it again but I can't... I read somewhere in one of the final bosses you can shoot in FPV, so maybe that's why there was a laser and the laser was different.

Well.... here I am again reviving an old thread.
The topic did have something to do with what I'm concerned about though. After playing MGS 2 and 3 for so long I've gotten use to being able to shoot in FPV. Now that I'm playing the 1st MGS I'm finding all sorts of problems. (Mainly shooting in FPV) How am I suppose to shoot what I can't see? I'm trying to enjoy this game to the best of my ability, but stuff like that is taking the pleasure away from me, and makes it quite hard to adapt. With that being said. Is it possible to shoot in FPV at all? Can you shoot in FPV on the GC version?

Yes, you can shoot in FPV on the GC mode. Just press the R button I believe.
