There was a game some years ago for the Sinclair ZX Spectrum computer that had nudity in it - however, the name of the game escapes me right now.

Basically it was a platform style game that had topless faeries in it. Now given how non-photographic Spectrum graphics were, I still chuckle at the fuss that was kicked up at the time.

Nudity is never needed in a game, or a film for that matter (well, unless it's a skin flick!), but that does not mean I don't enjoy it! Hell, the only redeeming feature of Res Evil: The movie was Milla Jovovich showing her nips and flashing her beaver...

Anyway, I digress...

It's hard to say whether nudity belongs in games due to there not excactly being an abundance of it in previous games.

To be honest, the idea of DOA Volleyball having a 'topless' mode sounds like it would be of immense comedic value more than anything - I can see myself and my mates, full of beer, pissing ourselves with laughter while playing it!

Nudity in games? Ah, why not? Can't hurt to see another pair of boobies to add to my repetoire!

Anyway, I kinda agree that nudity is never needed unless it's a skin flick, but it never actually harms a flick except in certain Cinemax and Showtime cases. Of course most of the time those cases the entire show is BASED around nudity, but hey.


..I also whole heartedly agree about resident evil.

In the end it's up to personal taste, but it should NOT be a factor that is either ridiculously rare or outlawed. People should have the option.

another game that had nudity was Duke Nukem 3D. u got to go in a stripclub and if u walked up to a stripper and pressed the space bar u handed em money and they flashed ya. i was like 9 when i discovered this lol. Nudity is not necessary in games. but can be used tastefully its just that those damn groups Thornn mentioned want to shut down everything good.

If done properly and proffesionaly nudity in games can help develop a certain character or plot.

Although alot of the time its used as a cheap marketing technique and its done badly, like its there just for the sake of it.

since this is my thread, I should put some of my own impressions... I think adding nudity for the sole purpose of marketing is morally wrong. I mean how many volley ball games were there anyway? But taking a game like mgs2, and adding a little more "depth" to it might make the game much more "suitable" for adults. Take Dave Mira's new bmx game, you do missions to unlock clips of strippers... there is already plenty of porn on the internet, being "shared" through kazaa etc... I think it would be just like a movie, a sole purpose of pleasing horny audiences- porn, or else a great movie featuring some sort of love and sex relationship... Not that I'm opposing it, but games can still be great w/o nudity...
