Well, I have a simple question.. Can you put vBulletin on a subdomain?? I have it and I dont know how to put it on my subdomain. Do you need a web hosting system that has SQL or can you use the downloadable version to put a forum on you subdomain??

Yes, you can put vBulletin on a subdomain. However, the server which hosts the subdomain must have MySQL installed. You can download MySQL, and even install it, but only if you have root permissions on the server you're going to use. If you don't have MySQL, you're out of luck, sorry.

An alternative would be to download the Windows binaries of MySQL, install it on localhost, along with PHP, and Apache, and you can run vBulletin on your computer. If you a fast connection (cable or faster), you can make your computer a makeshift server, but that opens you up to a whole shitload of security risks.

Free account includes MySQL and PHP, but there are lots of popups and FTP servers are usually down.

BTW, did you buy vBulletin? They have some very good web investigators, and lawyers. If you got your hands on a pirated copy, make no mistake, I will report your installation myself, since I am a paying vB customer.

no i have phpbb.. And their like the same..... i was juss using vBulletin as an example because this site uses vBulletin.

phpBB is nice, but its a real pain in the ass to skin. You're going to have to modify a lot of templates if you want to skin your board.

I had web hosting with them for a while. They give you a crapload of stuff for free and with no ads. They even give you a CD with some web tools on it. If you don't know french you can just filter the registration trough altavista's translator. The translation will suck but you will pretty much get what they are trying to say. Only problem is that you need a french phone number. =/

Another one I know about with mySQL and php is Lycos UK. Problem with them is that they put a huge ad frame on the sides of your pages.

I also have a free hosting account laying around that I'm not really using. Well, two actually if you count the french one. If you PM me I might give them to you, the french on is the better one but I have to find the letter they sent me because I forgot all my login information. Its been months and I dont even know if I still have it.
