New information on the development staff of Final Fantasy XII has been announced. Character designer and 3D map designer will be Akihiko Yoshida, known for his character designs on the Ogre Battle series, Final Fantasy Tactics, and Vagrant Story. The art direction will be handled by Hideo Minaba, who held the same position on Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, Final Fantasy IX and V. Director will be Jun Akiyama, who also worked on Vagrant Story and FFT.
Additionally, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance will share some connection with FFXII. The details are not known yet, but apparently some new secrets or map areas in FFXII could be found while playing FFTA on the GBA.


The inclusion of Akihiko Yoshida will add a breath of fresh air to FFs characters, and I´m very happy about that. I don´t know about you guys, but at least I can´t wait to see what FFXII looks like.

oooh concept art! ... i'm a complete sucker for stuff that is going on inside a developer's head, that may never even get released... and what do we have here? one of the benefits of 28k is that you gradually see the elements onfold... the buildings have a style that is marginally reminiscent of the architecture in FF8 or FF10 (particuarly the Yevon City... can't remember what its called ^_^ ) but... skyscrapers? don't think they've been too many of them in FFs...

not sure about the people portratyed in the foreground though... they look a bit like they're from Star Wars ^_^ (especially the dressing gown guy with the black hair thats facing out of the picture.... he even looks like he's got a light-saber there ) ... that image isn't helped by the flying bus thingy

I'd sure love to get hired by Square via that leaflet though ^_^

nope... i mean, we can never rule out the possiblilty that FFXII could contain some kind of feature that uses the PS2 Network, for instance for battles with your characters, or item sharing, but Square have specfically said that FFXII is not to be an MMORPG. They've also said that FFXI isn't the last one they will do though, so perhaps thats somthing for FFXIII?

and yes, I must mean Bevelle ^_^

It's true thou, FF12 will not be online, but FF13 will. If only I could remember which site I found that information. But im still positive what I said.

No im not Phychic, I wish, but im not. I know because I read about it, I just don't know how to prove my statement, because I can't find the site were I got my information. It's kinda sad because I should of saved it in my favorites,...but I didn't, so I don't care if you don't believe me. But, I still wish I could show you the site I found about Final Fantasy XIII.

Looks like FF12 might be quite an interesting game, it at least looks like it might have some new elements in it.
I guess will have to just wait and see.

The date is unknown for that it's probably not started yet, because of the other projects.

well, the Japanese version has been started (hence the concept art), but theres no release fate for that... I predict Winter 2003 at the earliest (for Japan)

FF12 looks so cool. I cant wait to get it. I wonder what kind of battle system it will have. I liked FF10's battle system where you could switch out guys. I hope its something like that.

don't most of them allow you do that anyway? (at least FF6 did... i think)

and to be honest, If they don't do somthing drastically new with the battle-system, i'll be clubbing myself to dead with a cactuar.

Yeah, they should move away from the ATB gauge. I think they should continue with what they did for FFX or do something new, just as long as it isn't another game with the ATB gauge.

I think FFX's system was a step in the right direction, but at the end of the day, it felt exactly the same. It even works on the same Turn based idea as the first 3 (NES) FFs anyway, just with more "timed" elements.... What they need is something really new, but its just as well they don't hire me to think of what it is

I just liked the fact that you could take the time to enter your commands and come up with better strategies. If in FFVII you could take your time to make a move I think Iprobably would have been able to defeat Sephiroth the first time I played it. They could do something like they did with Chrono Cross, but not something exactly the same.
