Need For Speed
Just got Need For Speed Hot Pursuit II. what an awesome game! I think it gives GT3 a run for its money. It beats Test Drive hands down, IMO (was kinda dissapointed with the overwhelmingly arcadish feel oin TD.) This one isn't totally free of an arcade feel but you can set it to "classic" or "extreme" handling. In Extreme mode the physics are a little more realistic upping the difficulty level and you can push the performance to the max more. Evading the cops is actually fun for a change in a driving game of this type. Now you get more of a feel of the pressure like in the Driver series. I've done reverse 180's and such avoiding the cops, leaving skid marks all over the road.
Anyways...It's still not everything I want in a driving game. Until they combine the speed, physics and licensed vehicles of NFS with the driving physics, insane crashes, and damage models of the Driver series...the perfect driving game has yet to be made. For now, as long as I own both, it's the next best thing. Can't wait for Driver 3, by the way. What's everyone elses favorite driving/racing games?

NFS or Burnout 2?
Well that's a good question...but the answer in my opinion is NFS. I asked a salesperson who had played both originally and the guy convinced me to buy Burnout 2, first, but I got the feeling later he didn't give either of them much more than an hour of play. I did not like it enough to keep it and i traded it in for Need 4 Speed. I guess it kind of depends on your tastes, but NFS has a lot more depth. The lack of crashes is a big loss for me, but in the end I decided Burnout 2 didn't do it for me even with the inclusion of the crashes. I Guess I decided the real licensed cars were more of a reason to own a driving game than the crashes in Burnout which really aren't quite as spectacular as the box claims. PLus, the physics in NFS feel more real. I may be biased, though, as playing NFS gives me kind of a nostalgic feeling. I remember playing the first one and drooling way back in the day.

Sorry, I just wanted to say that this thread should belong in the Sports forum since it's Need for Speed and it's the racing genre....
