Which one is easier?
Which one do you think it's easier: understanding others or understanding yourself?
Many philosophers said understanding others is difficult because man can't even get to understand himself and his true nature: do you think this makes sense or not? |

It's easier to understand myself. Although I look back just a few years and I see a whole different person than I am now. Some other people you can read like a book, they leave nothing to be figured out. But a few people are complicated and you really have to get to know them before you understand them, I'm one of those people because if I don't know you very well, I watch what I say very closely. You never know which person is going to be a future enemy, and anything you tell them now can be used against you later on.
Yes, I know I'm paranoid and wierd, but that's me |

Good question, but I don't think one of them is easier. Or maybe, depends on the person: there are persons that seem to be really good at understanding others, but they suck when they have to explain what are their needs, desires and feelings. some others are really good at self-analysis, but they're completely lost when they have to understand others.
I think I'm better at understanding myself tho. I sometimes have difficulties when it comes to understand others' behaviour.

I think understanding yourself is easier, but it's different from knowing your self.

*thinks*
I guess what Blue said in her post makes a lot of sense. But I don't know if it's really "easier" to understand yourself or others. You maybe can get some aspects of others personality, but you're really understanding them? And I don't think understanding yourself is easy as well. You can maybe get to know your needs, recognize them, but understanding is different. |
