Weird cover image! But at least it's not another "Best of". How many of them are there around? *lost count*
Looking forward to hear something from this new album |

I always thought his music was rather terrible. But of course thats just my opinion. Hes got tons of hardcore fans and alot of people who dress up like him (Sincerist form of flattery, or so they say) . I just never bought into that male feminimity* stuff. Its still good to see the classics keeping thier music alive. Sometimes id prefer just about any older band/preformer to some of the pop/rap garbage thats being produced nowadays . Anyway im sorry If i offended anyone im sure David Bowies is extreemly talented, I mean to be considered an icon i suppose youd have to be. its just not my style

Oh I'm not offended in the least! Not everyone has to like everything I do! What a predicatble and annoying world that'd be! I'm glad others have their own opinions.
I could get started on a rant about how everyone always has to watch what they say so they don't offend someone nowadays; but I wont! I sure know what you mean about 'today's' music! Blech!! Hee, yeah it's pretty bad how many 'Best of's' are out there, I mean, it's all the same songs!!! |

I have a passing interest in Bowie. Some of his music is... well, some of the best in existence: the problem is the 26 Albums. I'd not buy his albums because I'd have no idea where to start!
Its pretty amazing that he's still around after all these years. That takes some considerable talent for sure, and few could actually claim to have been around as long as him (erm... Tom Jones, Cliff Richard... and they're hardly making quality music nowadays... though Cliff hasn't really ever made anything good anyway ). Oh and he's British isn't he. See, some good things do come out of this place!

Don't know all of his work, but I like his old stuff better the ziggy stardust songs are wonderfully weird. My girl is mad about Bowie, that's why I bought two tickets to go see Bowie in Octobre. I'm looking forward to that( even though I'm not a big fan), it's always nice to see a legend/grandmaster at work.

I knew that, and I'm looking forward to it, since I own many (but not all) Bowie's albums and some of them are albums I really love.

With artists like Bowie, the number of released albums is a great problem, especially for newbies, I agree. I sometimes find myself buying albums I don't like much, just for a couple of songs, just because I don't have a precise idea (and I find boring listening to dozens of mp3 files before deciding: this way all the excitement for the purchase is lost). Bowie himself has a huge number of very famous tunes and usually people decide to get one of his albums following the knowledge they have of these famous tunes/songs, but sometimes this strategy doesn't work

Vicious, I know exactly what you mean, and it bus me that some people are SO uptight about somethings like that. I get angry just thinking about it! I'd better stop before I offend someone though. And yeah, I know what you all mean about the number of albums by one artist, it's hard for someone to pick just one to buy, especially if there's only a couple tracks you like... I figure that's why they have 'Best Of's' around, put all of the classics on one CD and make it easier for that. |

I'm so happy for you Zoox! I'm not sure I'm quite as excited as you but... all I need is my thermos. Just me and my thermos...
