The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (LMAO)

I watched this movie last wednesday, I liked it, it was cool, but that was it.

It's very entertaining, the special effects are great, and bringing together several different characters from literature was a fantastic idea, specially Dorian Gray and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hide.

The bad guy, however, sucked the BIG ONE and IMO he weas what ruined the movie.

This is the kind of movie that looked to me very promising, but did not go as far as I thought it would. And the end wasn't very good either, as a matter of fact I tyhink it greatly sucked, although givces you expectations for a second (and hopefully much more improved) movie.

If you don't mind plot suckery and enjoy shooting action and badass special effects, go watch it. Otherwise wait to watch it on video or cable.

Dude. This movie SUCKED. Perioud.

Firstly. Nemo was NOT FROM INDIA. He didn't have a turban or a beard!!!

Secondly. The Nautilus.. IN THE VENICE CANALS!? I don't think so! Full sized boats could not even navigate the canals! Argh!

The bad guy sucked too. Not even outrageously bad like the Indian Nemo and the suddenly wide-berth venice canals. He just was badly written, badly acted, just plain bad.

Plot? Slapdash to nonexistent. No-faced villian with mysterious fortune and influence sells extremely high tech weapons to 19th century Europe. By the end of the film you don't know where he got the power or influence to do this, only BARELY how he managed to actually design the weapons. Midway through the movie everything that was built up plotwise in the first half is tossed aside and replaced with a new focus.

The special effects were moderately okay in regards to Jekyll/Hyde and the Nautilus itself.. otherwise? *thumbs down*

Sorry, but I couldn't recommend this to anyone who actually likes good movies.

No offense to anyone intended! The preceeding was simply the opinion of a bitter cynic! Read with caution and do not swim until 90 minutes after reading!

My local paper gave it a big thumbs down, and i pretty much listen to what they say. Speaking of Nemo, i still need to see Finding Nemo, which apparently is excellent. Its always best to avoid the fairly obvious bummer flicks, i try to, this summer has been full of them, sounds like Sea Biscuit will break that bad streak, though...

Maybe I take you did not intend offense to me since I made the thread? No offense taken, if so. Because you are right. As I said, this movie is for people who just wants to watch special effects if they don't mind plot suckery.

It's just this kind of movie that makes you think how it could actually have not sucked if they had worked on a good plot and have damned sense on the movie.

A lot of unexploited (or badly exploited ?) potential, is what I think happened to the movie.

I just try to think of the good parts of it as to prevent myself for regreting havig gone to the theatres for it
