I was browsing through some anime site and I came across Peacemaker. I remembered when I was requesting some ninja / samurai anime recommendation and this was one that was mentioned. Decided to do a little bit of research (since I think someone also stated that it was dealing with something about the Shinsengumi) and I came across 2 familiar names mentioned in this anime. Saitoh and Okita. (couldn't find any pictures....)

My question(s) are: Are these the same characters? If so, Is this suppose to be following what happened before Rurouni Kenshin took place? Like showing the aspects of the Shinsengumi's storyline of what went down after the revolution. (or before the revolution... either or)

I'm not too sure about my information, but as far as I know...

...your first question about Saitou and Okita, I don't know if these 2 act exactly like the characters in Rurouni Kenshin but these two are real people in Japanese history. Okita, apparently, is supposed to be the youngest member of the Shinsengumi army and Saitou is supposed to be this traditional and powerful captain as well. But, while they are the same people and names, I'm not sure if the personality is real (in both Kenshin or Peacemaker).

As for your second question about the storyline in Peacemaker to be before Kenshin's storyline, yes, the story should be before the Meiji Restoration era in Japan. I hope this helps a little.
