The location was beautiful but it was such a drastic change and I thought it was fine how it was. And Hagrids cabin was right by the woods and then the next minute its right by a huge lake! Quote:
How can she sit there and let her books be ruined by some poncy director who hadn't even heard of HP b4 he said yes!! Yeh i'm worried about the last book aswell, It's such a big book, I hope they don't try and squeeze it all in. It should be about a 4hr Movie! I don't want it to be rushed like I felt this one was. I saw Prisoner of Azkaban yesterday, and all in all, I thought it was pretty decent. Sure, there are some noticeable changes made in this movie like the ones described above, but it didnt do much to detract me from enjoying the film. It's certainly a different kind of movie- which may or may not be favorable to HP fans- but it does demonstrate a solid effort.

Well, I'd probably be oblivious to all the little stuff taken out of the book and all since I never read the books.

The direction was brilliant. Incredibly dark and lovely together. It was pretty much as I expected and I wasn't let down. Perfect viewing for a sleepy kinda sunday night.

![]() And it was filmed in scotland, as it's always been but the new director just moved it to a different part of scotland for this film. I just learnt that another director is going to be shooting the 4th film. ![]() Piggle ![]() x x x x

I saw it Saturday night and I thought it was a good movie. It seemed to go by quickly. The movie covered all of the major points and that was about it. There were a couple parts I was looking forward to seeing that were not in there. The change of scenery was a bit much. I didn't think there was enough interaction with the Ministry of Magic.
All of the new characters were great. I thought Gary Oldman did a great job as Sirius, I didn't have a problem with Michael Gambon as Dumbledore (As long as he does good in The Goblet of Fire and The Order of the Phoenix his not being Richard Harris can pass this time around) and David Thewlis did a perfect job as Lupin. Not to mention the Dementors were great. I am looking forward to The Goblet of Fire. I just hope it's longer so they can fit more in.

rumor has it that alfonso there has convinced them not to split GOF into two movies as previously planned... and thank god.. i would be pissed.. but as someone here said curon is not directing GOF.. but at least it is not two movies... but yeah.. so that should be some indicator that the fourth installment will be a tad longer

Well, saw it Monday and I must say that I had mixed feelings when I came out of the theater. The film was so different from the previous two. But now that I think about it a little more, I'd give it a B/B-. I think the tone of the story being very dark and mysterious was done well, some scenes were very well-done (such as
Spoiler: show The three kids did improve on their acting, but Radcliffe still needs to really do a better job, IMO. Like the part when he said Spoiler: show The other actors did a great job....the new Dumbledore took some time to get used to (though I still have some annoyance towards him) and I think this new guy is better suited for this new Potter film. I can't imagine the regal Richard Harris acting those parts that Gambon did. And for those who hated the major changes to the film, we should be glad. As said in the June 11 issue of Entertainment Weekly, "Cuarón admits he arrived looking to change more than he ultimately did. He mulled more radical changes, like redesigning the Hogwarts architecture, but was talked out of it. Cuarón was particularly fixated on making the giant Hagrid (Robbie Coltrane) larger. Ironically, Columbus was similarly obsessed in the early stages of Sorceror's/Philosopher's Stone, but time and budget made it impossible. "I realized then, the universe had been established, let's move on," says Cuarón. "I had to learn to serve the material, and subvert my ego, not vice versa."' ![]() So, to all those who've read the books, what details were omitted from the film? I've never read the books so any information would be helpful. ![]() The same issue of "Entertainment Weekly" gave the film a B+. The magazine as stated that as for the kids returning, apparently Radcliffe wants to stay for all the seven films...him and his parents realized that ever since Radcliffe began the films, his grades have improved drastically. And Warner Bros. now wants to keep the trio intact...when they once wanted to get rid of the kids the minute they reached puberty/became older. The one kid they had to persuade to return for "Goblet of Fire" is Emma Watson.

Quite frankly though, if you don't expect to see things cut from a 700 page book to even a 3 hour film, you're just silly. Shakespeare's Hamlet is about 130 pages of dialogue of Harry Potter sized text, and Kenneth Branagh's unedited version runs for Four Hours. Even taking into account that HP isn't all dialogue, a truely faithful version would probably still be in excess of 6 to 8 hours. Besides, beyond book 3, Rowling just got unneccessarily waffley. Some like the forth and fifth books simply because they're bigger. I like them less for that reason.
