Who's with me?

I remember the good old days when I used to look forward to coming on General Chat but to be honest, as of late I see that it has really taking a dive in the wrong direction. You might say who cares what I think or say but I know a lot of you post new wave members have to feel the same. If you think General chat is not dying then where have all the cowboys gone. Maybe Mark0 was right to just dust his hands free of the dirt from this site. I've tried to wait hoping that this unfortunite downfall would come to an end, however even a assassin can't wait this long. You members that agree please don't be affraid of people hating you or not posting on your threads because you are the one's that can help the revolution that needs to be started. This site has always been a good source of entertainment to me and I don't want it to stop. So once again please reply and help save General Chat.

You can say whatever you want and we appreciate your interest, but please don't mention mark0 saying he was right, because he behaved in a very rude and malicious manner before leaving, and some members of the staff know what I'm talking about...

First of all, I agree with Rei: it'd be better to not involve members who are gone and who didn't show great respect for some people from this site... And I'd rather not talk about this subject after all this time.

Then, you said you've been waiting, but frankly I haven't seen you much around the forums in general, and most of all, you haven't done much to "save" the "downfall", as you like calling it. Members who want to increase the activity of a community don't disappear and wait for others to post in the meantime You could post yourself, you could start yourself threads or discussions to keep interest on some higher level, like many other members did, but no, you come here all of a sudden and talk about downfalls and General Chat dying... Sorry but this sounds quite hypocritical and not very constructive, stormshadow! There are many other ways to show your appreciation, instead of posting just to talk about the death of General Chat...

And no, I'm not trying to humiliate you for your interest, it's just that I don't think this is the best way to express it. But ok, whatever, I'm sure someone will agree with you. I just felt I had to give my personal opinion as a member, not as a moderator.

I don't want to start posting on my own threads after one person says something but why not. Maybe mentioning Mark0 was an error in my part but he never pissed on me like he did some of you so I will apologize for that. I was refering to him leaving not the way he might have acted to others when he left. I have tried to start threads that could spark interest but the only thing people like to talk about it seems is trash. Maybe the threads that I have tried to start arn't simple enough for all the masses. Maybe I'll start a thread about the last soda you drank, oh wait that ingenious idea was already used and it did real well. What I'm doing is trying to get people to remember the way it used to be what's that word.........oh yeah interesting. It's not my fault if I try and find something that someone actually put time into creating to make it a quality thread. That is what is needed and I've tried so I guess the only thing to do is wait. I have been gone but why, oh thats right the crap people call threads is taking over. I also tried to revive threads but they usually get forgotten. Sorry if your mad but at least you got another post to add to your count.

I'm not mad and I haven't replied to add a post to my count. If this was the impression you received from my post, well, you're completely wrong.

It's true: there are threads that are "quality" and others that are not, that are made only to have fun. This is a videogaming forum, the masses you're talking about are players who mostly join to talk about videogames, not about philosophy, about death or about politics. Jesus Christ, if you feel so terribly embarassed by the low quality of our threads, you should start posting your own, and then somebody will probably end replying! But you can't expect to receive dozens of replies in certain threads when most people want to do is sharing their interest for videogaming related topics! I think it's great that we have so many people sharing their problems with other members, and that for example they come here for getting sincere suggestions. Is it crap to you? It's great that people sometimes are interested in knowing others opinions about serious matters, but this can't be 100% of General Chat's threads, because as I said, this is not a specific forum for these things! You probably need to find another place, maybe a non-videogaming forum, because I still have to see a videogaming forum in which people only enjoy talking about mature stuff... Complaining isn't of any use, that's what I meant with my previous post! And although you have all the rights to say how disappointed you are, you shouldn't do it without showing you're actually trying to make some difference. You feel you want to talk about mature subjects, you're welcome, but if you're the first one who doens't feel the need to post because you're afraid you won't receive a proper amount of replies, then what do you expect from others?

If you want me to complain I can, but I might run out of breath. First off I'm not affraid of anything that can be dealt to me on this site. I don't think you are actually reading my replies. I said that I have tried but if you want me to start any piece of garbage I can think of I will and I guess your the one to thank because of your undoubtful inspiration. Maybe thinking that thought was required to make a thread was my mistake. Because of you I have seen the light and from this day forward I will post on anything I read and start threads with little to no meaning. I got some ideas already, man this is easy when quality is not a factor. I'll start right away and hopefully I'll get no posts because that is my main objective when starting a thread. By the way who's jesus christ?

I may not know because I haven't been around much myself, but have you actually even posted any threads, stormshadow? Like Fortune and Rei said, if you want to start a serious topic then you're free to do so. But from your last post:

It seems you're going to start creating spam threads, only because you feel members here enjoy reading spammish things. A lot of the topics/threads on the General Chat may seem like spam to you or may not be the most interesting or thought-out, but everyone has varied interests. Maybe some enjoy reading light-hearted threads to give their minds a rest from dealing with their everyday life. If you feel there needs to be more important and dramatic discussions, you can create those threads. But don't expect these sort of things to pop out from nowhere if you don't start it first.

I don't think YOU are reading my replies. Have I told you to start any thread with no meaning? No, I haven't. Have I told you content and thought don't count? No, I haven't. There's no need to be sarcastic telling you've seen the light thanks to my words. Silly threads are part of a forum, whether you like it or not. You keep on repeating you have tried posting different stuff, but sorry I must be blind, because I haven't seen all these efforts. You're showing more angst than interest towards this place.
If you have nothing to say, don't post, if you feel frustrated by the garbage posted all around here, just feel frustrated, if you want to start posting crap, do it, if you just want to say it'll be my fault, just say it (even if I don't see how you could consider me "inspiration" for the situation you're condemning... maybe just because I suggested to you to post something with some content instead of complaining?).
After all these talks, the question is: why are you posting in this thread? What kind of suggestions are you providing to make this place better? What are you trying to tell us? I don't get it. And I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who doesn't get your purposes. You haven't provided a single useful idea till now, with this thread. You're only complaining, repeating the same things which I have read and answered, even if you didn't like my answers. Do you simply want people to agree with you and say General Chat is dead? Is that your purpose? Because if you're suggesting anything else, you should at least demonstrate you're going to do what you're suggesting. And I thought your suggestion was "Ok, let's start posting something interesting!", but probably I was wrong. You tried ages ago and now you have no intention to do it again. Or so it seems.

And if you don't know who is Jesus Christ, you should pick some History book and read it. Ok, I guess yours was a rhethorical question

... I don't get your point either.

General Chat is far from being dead IMO. People who want to talk, are free to come and post whatever comes to their mind, from the "Last Soda" thread you seem to despise so much to their personal problems. If anybody wants to talk about anything else, they're free to do it. From your posts it seems you're asking us to start posting threads you might like, which is pointless. I don't see why you have so many complaints against members who just want to talk about funny stuff. If you have so many ideas you should take the time to write meaninful threads yourself, which you're not doing. Other members do it, but they're not the majority, simply because in forums about videogames the audience is more interested in talking about something else. But anytime people take the time to post meaningful threads, others reply. Why are you so extremely frustrated? Anyway, it's too easy to say you've tried, suggesting we've caused the downfall of General Chat. It's a bit arrogant position, isn't it?

On a random note... isn't that weird that we have stormshadow complaining about the low quality and content of our posts in this thread and omni vengeance complaining about their lenght and excessive content in another thread? Ah, nobody's satisfied

It looks like I get to be the shepard for once so thank you for this great responsibility. I do have one more thing to say to merylsilverburg. It is obvious that you did not understand the satire in my last post. I'm sorry the next time I plan on being sarcastic I'll send you a heads up. Why would I do what I'm "complaining" about? Once again I think you all.

Once again I wonder why all this harshness? Only because nobody seems to agree? Sounds like you're mad at us, while nobody here is offending or attacking you.

Are you in a bad mood or something?

I was thinking the same thing. But in that thread I learned something neat

Well I for one think the forums have been a little dead the last month. Hero posted about it... But to suggest the quality of the threads has gone in the wrong direction is obscured. Plus since school started more members are coming back. Action is picking up.

So let me round it all up...

You are angry that some threads in your opinion are pointless. You say they are not though out. You go as far as calling them crap. You want things to be more interesting like they used to be. Tell me if I left anything out

You have accomplished all those things you wanted in this very post.

1. You started your own thread.

2. Not only did you start a thread you happened to start one that has been taken serious by some members.

3. It seems as if this thread was well thought out. Or maybe not. I guess since I reply to those crap threads I really have no idea any more of what is crap and what isn't.

4. An interesting thread indeed.

5. You seem to have enjoyed the thread up until this point. I for one enjoy seeing people call each other names on a forum. It makes for good entertainment. It truly brings the best out of people.

You say you have tried to start threads in the past. You say it didn't work. To date you have started 6 threads including this one. Excluding your newest thread and one other all of your threads have at least 11 replies. Are you just jealous that other people get more replies ?

Angry

I must say that usually, I'm a pretty calm and passive person. However, upon seeing some people bitch about this and that without doing anything to actually solve the problem they deem necessary enough to point out, it just really pisses me off.

What's even more irritating, because is has gone beyond the point of humorous stupidity, is the fact that they claim to begin these threads in order to point out the problem so it shall be solved, but in the end only end up complaining without offering any good resolution whatsoever.

That is stupid.

Personally, I enjoy the the divergent threads here. As Fortune pointed out: this is a gaming forum, not a forum specifically made to discuss wordly affairs. However, General Chat is full with diverse threads. Some are silly, some are serious. Simple as that.
I really don't see the point of coming here and saying that many threads are garbage, other than for sheer vice.
I've yet to see a thread made by you that is so utterly different, that it shines like the morning sun.

If you feel that there aren't enough "intellectual" threads to feed your arrogant ego, then make some instead of just complaing, dammit!

In all honesty, if you believe the content of this place is so below your level of intellect, then why come here in the first place?

And by the way, before you try to "correct" someone of any literary fault, correct your own damned grammar.

I'm so glad that you "think" us all.

It is obvious that you don't know how to write satirically. Otherwise, people would have gotten your "big" joke.

Look, man. You are being extremely rude and you're not even offering any constructive criticism. I also see your post count at 100 and we haven't heard from you for a while (like everybody else is saying) so I'm wondering where you get off having such in depth opinions on something you you seem to know so little about. Your comments make that obvious enough.

I don't want to make enemies with you at all. I would just find it a lot easier to like you if you wouldn't complain so much.

Woah, wait a minute... Mark0 left ? Man, I need to visit here more often.

I dont think this place has changed a bit since I joined. I joined and stayed cause of the laid back, calm atmosphere. A forum I used to post at was filled to the brim with annoying, perverted, 13 year old kids. Seriously, if a girl joined they would ask for her pic and say perverted stuff to her over AIM. Also if a girl stays long enough to make like 20 posts, she becomes instantly the most popular person on the baord. And dont even get me started on all the ejaculation posts... It became a chore going there after a while because every other post would be a damn crgument.

But here, people act more mature and sane, erm... well actually none of us here are sane but you get the idea.

What I'm saying is that this site is pretty much the cream of the creamy crop when it comes to messageboard and I dont see how you can possibly hate it.

I dont know about you guys, but someone with only 100 posts and been a member a long time isnt really a real member of a forum. So dont let anything this person says make more than a difference than passing gas in the wind. Ive been here a long time, and know that the summer time is a slow place for this and all forums. As for the people who have left this year, that was their decision, some will come back before the year is over. Some people are too sensitive, also, and need to sort that out within themselves and not blame others for their problems... This site and forum is great, and lets all say thanks to Harry and friends for keeping it going after seriously considering taking it down in July. For however long we can stay on here, lets be grateful for the opportunity to do so, ok?
