Smile Mags To Be Gamed

Well I remember making a thread about this loooong loong time ago. Well here I am making it again.

I am not too sure if you people are a huge fan of the Gaming Mags or not..... that is if you buy them or not. I do....and alot of them....... Internet stuff is cool.....but still Gaming Mags really intrest me. So which ones are your fav and which one do you avoid?....?

My fav has to be "OPM", "EGM", "PSM"....... and I recently got XBN, which I kinda liked. And EB gave me their Premieir issue for free "GMR"....which I really liked as well, I am thinking of getting its membership and all.

The ones I hate is "Official Xbox Magazine".... damn, that mag doesn't know anything but to make fun of other systems and its games. I bought one issue recently and I was disgusted with it. The only reason I bought was for to get a free Demo Disc, but I wouldn't buy that mag ever again! Especially after seeing a screen shot of "In Game" of Halo, but instead of aliens, there was Super Mario being shot at. And the editors were happy about that.

Neways. I really loved PSM2 (Eurpeon Mag)... but I have stopped buying that, as its too expensive here in Canada..... I have bought more then 10 issues of them, including the premier issue which came with MGS2 video free!

So whats your Gaming Mag!

The only gaming magazine I have a subscription 2 at the moment is EGM (Electronic Gaming Monthly) . I dont like the console spycific mag's because im iterested in all the systems and you cant really expect an unbiast opinion from most of them. Gamepro Is another one I buy occasionally, but I prefer their website Gamepro.com. Plus the ones with game demo's cost like 11.00 $ thats a little steep for me , especially when I dont like most of the games they demo. I find EGM to be pretty entertaining and unbaist (Sept for when it comes to Metroid, thier freaks over that series) , also they talk up alot of the old NES and super NES games a litle too much. Reading HSU & Chan is enough to keep me hooked on it though.

My favorite gaming magazine is OPM. It's a great magazine in all areas, plus it comes with a demo.
Another one I just recently read for the first time was Game Informer. It's pretty good.

I used to read PSM, but I think they suck now.

I like PSM, EGM, and GamePro. I don't have a subscription to any of them, but I've got three issues of GamePro. It started with the one with the first section of their FFX guide and went through either the second section of that FFX guide or the one with the news about the DBZ games form infogrames.

Yeah I use to like PSM alot before, but now they have increased their prices......cause they include a Demo CD, just the videos only though.

But GMR is something I am really digging.

I used to be a subscriber to PCZone... tbh, i'm a cheap-skate and I only started buying because it was cheap... for a PC mag, it was pretty damned good really - they nailed some pretty big exclusives (System Shock 2, Deus Ex, Black & White and Unreal 2) .... but the whole reason that I kept reading was the humour, and thats sadly gone... and the price has doubled. So I just rely on the Internet to give the views first, and 99% of the time thats the case - I can see the PC Magazine getting even more declined as Broadband allows people to quickly grab whats on the cover-disks as well.

Now i'll buy any magazine really... what I need is a decent UK mag that talks about all Platforms without Bias... that'd be pretty rare

OPM- Only buy it for demos that I'm interested in, like the one that came with the War of the Monsters demo.

PSM- Though it's not as good as it used to be, I still buy it for certain features and previews.

GamePro- Don't really read much of their stuff anymore. I prefer EGM.

EGM- By far, my favorite of the 4. Good content, articles, and reviews makes for a pretty damn good read.

I've subscribed to OPM (for the demos), PSM (one of the better magazines IMO), and EGM (great reviews and previews). When I was in 6th grade, I used to get GamePro and GameFan (an old magazine) and Ultra Game Players (old, old magazine). Now, however, those three are enough for me. I'm actually thinking of cancelling OPM because the staff is pretty annoying. They really don't seem to respect people's opinions and tend to make fun of a lot of people who write to them. The only reason why I've stuck with them is because of the demos, but lately their demos have "previews" of games that are already out for rental. That really bugs me.

Has anyone heard of GMR?.... Its a great mag to be honest. They do all three consoles as well as PC. And its really cheap over here in Canada, I am sure it'll be cheaper in States as well.
Next Friday I'll subscribe for this new mag!

The other day i saw a magazine (it was an xbox mag) and with it you got a free guide for Splinter Cell. It was the offical guide worth £12.99 and it was free. I think the mag was called xbox gamer, im not sure.

I got my very first xbox magazine today.

its called XBM, its very good for reviews and news and the rest, and it dosent even slag off ps2 and gamecube which is good, but i found one comment which i was offended by(on the front page)-

"Can Solid Snake take on the mighty splinter cell"

Yea splinter cell is good and all but shoud'nt it be "can sam fisher/splinter cell take on the mighty metal gear solid." but obviuosly splinter cell wasnt being reviewed and mgs2 sub was but that is my opinion, all in all its a great magazine, and i will purchase it in the future.
