go to the DMZ, i just went today for a troop trip so we all got the day off and went up there for the tour, it was really interesting, learning about the rivalry, the disipline etc of the koreans both north and south,

take the trip if any if any of you get the chance

I don't know but I think it stands for the De-Militarized Zone

I would love to check out the DMZ for my own personal constant interest in expanding my mind on such things, but since for a lot of us it is more or less on the other side of the world, could you give us a summary on some of the things you learned? How exactly does this place work and what are the conditions of the treaty or whatever? How do people feel about DMZ and its purpose? Thanks ahead.

By the way, it's a good thing soldiers such as your self are over the keeping an eye on such things. I may be one of the biggest anti-war freaks here, but I sure as hell understand the role of the modern soldier to keep the peace where it is necessary. You are brave, man. I do not question that.

well there is a big rivalry between south and north korea, there south korea built a peace house for peace talks, no north korean ever stepped in it because of who it was built by, so the north koreans built a bigger one on their side, then south remodeled and it was bigger, then north korea added a 3rd story to theirs and today it is larger, the flag is another instance the south koreans put up a flag, north korea one bigger, the north koreans march 12 to the front 12 to the rear, that is swinging their arms, the north was always watching us, certian stuf we couldnt do to provoke them because we had north koreans on 3 of the 4 sides of us, the guides told us that he north koreans would try to provoke us by making faces etc

it was really interesting i liked it

no, we kept our distance really from them, they were not on the line so to speak as close as we were, but we could see them and they were watching us from towers and the woods etc

Sounds like you had a kick ass time man. I would attempt to go but the prices are so high. Maybe if I join the military I will go check it out.
