Man I was just thinking the other day that Cid has been in every single final fantasy(except mystic quest i think). Wont square ever break the Cid Tradition

What's mystic quest? I think they will continue with the Cid thing, but they should get away from him being some sort of pilot/ship maker. Maybe make him use a sword for once.

Cid was a playable character in FFVII, although he used a spear, not a sword.

Why so specific on his weapon?

I thought you were just saying "sword" to indicate you'd like him to be a "fighting", playable character.

He may have been playable in other FF's, I've only played FFV, FFVI, FFVII and FFX.

well, Cid wasn't in FF1, as he first appeared in FF2. But I really see no need to break the tradition: its just a name after-all. There is truely no effect on the state of the game when he's a different guy every time.

Edit: and Cid appears in FFIV, FFVII and Tactics as a playable character - I believe in the later, that he uses a Sword.

The movie was good if it wasn't supposed to be a Final Fantasy movie...watch it and see for yourself...

And as for the name Cid, it's just a little FF tradition that I think would be odd playing an FF without the name...

Mystic Quest was a game for the SNES. ^_^;;;;

Cid did use a sword in FFT, as the Holy Swordsman class. :o

On a side note, Cid = Cheap in FFT.

Eh?! whats so wrong with making Cid a mechanic or a pilot? I mean, he wasnt that in EVERY single one. Heck, he was a Garden master in FFVIII. Personally I like mechanics.. very manly thing. hehehe. Cid Highwind is hands down the greatest of all Cids!

I like having a Cid in FF series and I hope they keep the tradition going. It's just like the tradition of always having chocobos in the ff games now.

Ya sid is one of the greats. If anyone has played final fantasy nine go to the industry part in liblem. there will be a statue of Cid the VIII *hint**hint*. And I agree with everyone else cid really needs to be something else besides a mechanic or a pilot, And I SURE HOPE THEY NEVER MAKE HIM A CHOCOBO BREEDER!! Cant wait to XII to see what they have in store for Cid!!

cid was also used as a mechanic in final fantasy unlimited, the animated series.he is the ultimate handy man.

Cid from FF8 was pretty cool to laugh at, he looked liek Robin williams and that has to be one of te ups..hes funny lookin.

yes... he does, doesn't he ... I always thought that Thunder God Cid (Tactics) looked like Obi Wan Kenobi... but I don't think many would agree with that ^_^

There's no Cid in Final Fantasy(1)! FFX's Cid was my favorite, he's not really a pilot he just knows a lot about the machina and is very crazy or courageous depending on how you look at it.
