If you don't know, this is a new series that will premier on FOX sometime soon(not sure when though). It's based on some Western/Sci-fi setting. But the reason I brought this up is that I recently saw a commercial for it and saw some striking similiarities with the Outlaw Star anime.

Most of them are pretty minor, but the ones that caught my attention was the spaceships- (at least from what I saw) which almost had the same exact shape as the one in OS; and towards the end, after introducing the characters, the last one was dubbed as "...girl in a box", showing the main character finding a transparent box with a girl in it. Now if I'm not mistaken, Melfina from OS was found in a little box of some sort by Gene and Jim. But all it said in the end was that it was from the creator of the Buffy The Vampire Slayer series.

So, can anyone shed some light on these similarities, is there actually a connection? Or have I just simply lost my mind?
