FF villains similarities?
Which villains in FF games present some similarities? I mean, physical or not. I haven't played all FF games, but for example one silly thing I've noticed is that many FF villain have silver hair! Like Sephiroth, Ultimecia, Kuja or Garland himself (which is more on the white color, but he's supposed to be old, so it's the same....). Is it just because silver looks good on villains or because there is some symbology behind the color?
Well, you can mention other things and details, also more interesting stuff

I think silver or white hair is symbolic indeed. I think it gives the villain a somewhat god like dimeanor. You dont see people in their 20's sportin around white hair everyday so it kinda gives them an all powerful, one in a million look.
Where as they would give the main characters brown or blond or black hair, so you the player could relate with them more. I have no idea what character designers had in mind for that style of hair but thats my partake on it. Oh yeah and plus it just looks cool!

hmm... I don't think theres that much similarity amongst them... even Ex"lookingimaneviltree"Death managed to be set himself apart.... not even Garland (FFI) and Garland (FFIX) have all that much in common... Sure, they mostly use "the most powerful magic" but thats more down to the nature of the game.
So its mostly left to aesthetics I guess... quite a few of the recent ones have white hair, which seems to indicate purity, even though they're evil (Kuja repents, Sephy was argueably without free-will at the hands of Jenova)... but I suppose they do have one thing in common: Insanity! - they're mostly all driven by somthing, or just plain power crazy (Kefka, Ultemica)...

The only real similarties I can think of are Sephiroth and Kuja. They both had similar physical attributes, (Face, white hair, etc..) and their attitudes on life and their goals in the game were really similar.

I think most villain of FF series are insane, or they seem to be perverted insane people Their personalities are almost identical, on the base, with some differences due to variations of background informations, biographies and so on.
But I agree that Kuja and Sephiroth are the ones with most points in common, both for their nature and because their need for revenge is partly motivated. |
