Top 5 Anime
This is a thread to, quite simply, name your top five favourite anime series/OVAs/OAVs(heh)/movies of all time.
Mine would probably look like this at the moment; 5) Rurouni Kenshin OVAs All of them, although the first four were the best. The last two were very good, just too sad to watch so many times. 4) Berserk One of the best storylines and characters in any show. The darkest series I've ever seen . . . the manga is even bleaker and more horrific. 3) FLCL It's just beautiful! That, and it has a main character that plays bass guitar! Although there's less playing than hitting . . . . 2) Samurai Champloo Premature, yes. But I'm infatuated . . . maybe in love. 1) Cowboy Bebop, including Knockin' on Heaven's Door *swoon* . . . *gush* . . . *etc.* Responses, responses, responses? My top 5 :
1 - Trigun/Cowboy Bebop (don't make me choose among these two) 2 - Serial Experiments Lain 3 - Neon Genesis Evangelion 4 - One Piece 5 - Boogiepop Phantom Though I like many series and I fall in love with many different animes and I can even become "obsessed", these are the ones I love the most. |

1. Trigun - Nothing beats Vash. My favorite fictional character ever.
2. Gundam Wing - One of the first Animes I ever saw. Cool looking giant robots... enough for me D: ![]() 3. Fooly Cooly - Only 6 episodes but it has the BEST MUSIC EVER. Period... 4. Cowboy Bebop - I actually didn't like the show when I first saw it... ![]() 5. InuYasha - Even though I haven't seen them all I just can't think of anything I like more. Maybe I'm just hoping the rest of the episodes will be good....

This is kind of a silly list for me to make, given that at maximum i've only seen 6 episodes of any one series, and not seen a single complete series. Not sure the movies would have such a prominent hold if I'd not only been watching anime for 3/4 months ^^
1. Princess Mononoke (I love just about everything about this film, and I've only seen the English Dub) 2. Akira (Curses on you Geinoh Yamashirogumi! I shall be humming your traditional Japanese tunes whilst recalling high-speed motorbike chases for the rest of my life!) 3. Neon Genesis Evangelion (Only seen 4 episodes, so it's yet to truely kick off. Yet, I like just about everything i've seen so far *does Gendo Ikari nose resting on hands pose* ^^) 4. Spirited Away (The first anime I saw... it dragged in places, but was beautiful and fun nevertheless) 5. Please Save My Earth (one of the first OAVs I went looking for. Nice story, premise and characters. Feels very rushed by then a multiple volume manga scaled down to 6 Episodes isn't going to be slow-paced) And a quick list of series that seemed like they could make the list but I've seen to little of to judge: Fruits Basket, One Piece, Escaflowne and Lain

In No Specific Order...
Evangelion - Has always been seen as a favorite, since my early days as an anime fan. I love the story, characters, mecha, and nearly everything else that went into the series. Cowboy Bebop - Unparalleled by any other as far as I can tell. From the art, to the musical score, everything in this show is beautiful. Rurouni Kenshin - The first two series were great, along with the OVA's. The third season, Tales of the Meiji, well, it sucked, as did the movie that followed it. But if I somehow blot from my memory, theefinatly one of the best series I have ever seen, especially with it's length. it never got old, and the chaarcters just got cooler as it went on. then with the OVA's, you learn to actually fall in love with each and every member of the show. Naruto - It's a newer series, but i feel that it has become the best among the best. i just take everything i said with the others, and put them together. Full Metal Panic - I don't really consider it a favorite, but after the four top above, well, this would have to be next. Not quite sure why i love it so much, but i do nontheless.

Hmm...no specific order:
1) Fruits Basket 2) The Big O (First season, second season really was a disappointment )3) Rurouni Kenshin (the TV and OVAs...last one was just so sad though) 4) Hellsing 5) Cowboy Bebop This was difficult...there's so much to choose from.

Just 5? Ah, that's just kinda difficult, isn't it? Let's try to put these in order here:1.) Now and Then, Here and There - This is simply the best 13 episode format anime I've seen. It truly takes advantage of all its on air time. So real, so touching, so thought provoking, so saddening, so eye-opening - this anime, imo, is as close as perfection as they come. I love every bit of it. ![]() 2.) Noir - I found this to be so enigmatic. Really. Although the story can be slightly confusing and leave a few unaswered questions, it really is quite touching and entertaining. I personally enjoy the story very very much, as well as the cast, especially Kirika. =) 3.) Fruits Basket - The only anime that can make me burst out in laughter and bring me on the brink of tears, and all in one episode! This anime is as funny as it is touching. Wonderful story, cast and musical score. I love it. ^^ 4.) Vision of Escaflowne - Gotta love those bishounen. The story is just so wonderfuly executed, with just the right amount of zest and twists. Great cast of good guys as well as bad guys. Truly an amazing piece. 5.) Serial Experiments Lain - So strange yet so appealing. This anime is really indescribable. It's difference is what makes it stand out, I think. The plot message, once you actually figure it out, is amazingly astonishing. And Lain is so cute. ^__^ Like meryl saidn, it's hard since there are so many good anime to chose from. |

1 - Great Teacher Onizuka - Absolutely hilarious.
2 - Neon Genesis Evangelion - First anime I ever watched. 3 - Love Hina - Sweet, funny anime. 4 - Steel Angel Kurumi - Kurumi is one of the most amusing characters I've come across. 5 - Real Bout High School - Didn't like it at first but it grew on me a lot. Definately a favourite now. |

2. Cowboy Bebop (whats not to love?) 3. Trigun (Vash is funny and charming) 4. FLCL (very confusing when you see all the episodes out of order like me, music by The Pillows rocks) 5. La Blue Girl (wait does hentai count?)

Quite shocking to see that I never posted in this thread.
Anyway, my choices are: 5- Hellsing: Not too fond of the music, but the action and story makes up for it greatly. Just wish there was a little more than 13 episodes. 4- Yu Yu Hakusho: At 1st I didn't understand why people liked this show when they were downgrading Dragonballz, but it caught my attention when Yusuke and Kuwabara (sp) went to rescue Yukina and from there on it was just great. 3- Gungrave: I haven't seen all the episodes yet, but from what I've seen... wow. The story is great. Actually it's the 1st anime where I prefer to hear the story over seeing the action. (And some people know that I am an action junky) 2- Rurouni Kenshin: (Samurai X and all) Swordsplay... action.... story, rinse and repeat. Need I say more. ^_^ 1- Cowboy Bebop: It's just that damn good. |
