Hmmm.......thats a tough question....I'll take one each round.....and narrow it down.
These are my favs though ---------------------- 1.) Stealth Action 2.) Adventure 3.) Survival Horror 4.) Racing 6.) Fighting 7.) First Person Shooter ---------------------- ---------------------- 1.) Stealth Action 2.) Survival Horror 3.) Racing 4.) Fighting 5.) First Person Shooter ---------------------- ---------------------- 1.) Stealth Action 2.) Survival Horror 3.) Racing 4.) First Person Shooter ---------------------- ---------------------- 1.) Stealth Action 2.) Survival Horror 3.) First Person Shooter ---------------------- There you go...the last three were those..... 1.) Stealth Action: Man I can go on and on and on and on about why I love this genre. Metal Gear Solid is one example. Plus one of my fav games were Hide and Seek, when I was young. Still is... 2.) Survival Horror: The reason I am into Video Games is because of this genre. Thanks to games like Alone In The Dark, man that game scared the shit out of me (When I was in Grade 4). And then Resident Evil series.... and then Silent Hill and it just keeps getting better and better. Plus I love watching Horror movies.....I just love freaky stuff. 3.) First Person Shooter: That was a tough choice. I thought I would go with Racing games but then I thought about "RTCW, Halo, and the all mighty "COUNTER STRIKE". The game I use to play for 12 hours straight at Internet Cafes. And now Rainbow Six series. This genre takes me into the game. I feel like a hero when playing games like these. I guess thats about it.

Mines are:
1) Stealth Action - I just love sneaking around, secret agent style. Going in with my guns blazing just isn't my style. I'd prefer to have a strategy before I do anything, or at least think soumething out while I'm playing. I always want an option of sneaking up behind someone and slicing thier neck instead of just showing my face and blazing. 2) Fighting - A good fighter will do me fine for a while. As the stealth action games, I love to have a strategy or think of one on the go. With fighting games I can think quickly on how to defeat my opponent and pull off some pretty cool moves. 3) Survival Horror - I dunno why but I just love getting the piss scared out of me. Its such an adreanaline rush and makes me want to play more. If I can take it I usually play games of this category late at night in the dark. This is how I played Code Veronica.

Stealth action- I love this genre, mainly becuase MGS, but for every other game, sneaking around turns people on, you really get tranced into it, on mistake and you're found.
First Person Shooter- This is the genre for online gaming, mainly because im a king at Unreal Tournament, but I love halo and Wolfenstien, I just Love to play good FPS titles, Intense!.! Action/Adventure- Tomb raider made me fall in love with this! all the puzzles, routes, ways out an supirses and bad guys, it gripping! Makg, the hide n seek bit, me too.

3. Strategy - After Platform Games, Strategy games were my first type of game I tried. To be honest, a lot of popular Strategy games really don't do anything for me anymore, so RTS / TBS doesn't really get very high on my list. But certain games of old (and one series of new) keep the Genre in my top 3.
Favorites Examples: Homeworld (my fave PC game of all time), Homeworld Catacylsm and The Settlers series. 2.5 Strategy Role Playing - Two of my fave genres, combined to make very good games. Shame about the rarity of the genre Favorite Example: Final Fantasy Tactics 2. Role Playing - Best for Stories, they're usually held back by questionable and linear gameplay. Some of the most intriguing stories every written are surely of the RPG genre. Favorite Examples: Final Fantasy VI and VII 1.5. First Person Role Playing: - My two favorite genres combined usually make games that make you think, plan and then shoot like Hell. Usually somthing to do with Warren Spector... Favorite Examples:System Shock 2 and Deus Ex 1. First Person Shooter - of all genres, it seems like you get the most control here. FPSs are usually the ones in which skill and lightning fast reflexes help (believe me, a 28k modem severely limits your capacity for the later one). The modern FPS is also one with a good enough story to rival that of the traditionally Story-heavy RPG genre. Wanton Violence is also very fun. Favorite Examples: Half-Life (and Scientist Whacking Mod, Science & Industry!), Unreal Tournament / 2003

Genres of games....
RPG - I love being in the shoes of other people/characters, especially in other worlds!!! Final Fantasy series. Action Adventure - I find these similar to RPGs... I think that's why I like 'em so much. GTA (III and VC) and Tomb Raider series type stuff. Horror - I love and hate being scared! It's a curious feeling that I can't keep away from, but I hate it at the same time! Silent Hill 2 is a prime example.

Top 3
Survival Horror- Resident Evil (need I say more)
Action Adventure- I love to explore in games. I like to go around and find stuff and do something that involves using your mind. Fighting- When you have a bad day and want to let out your frustration, this genre helps me out a lot. This is the only time where it makes me look like a good fighter.

3. RPG- This includes every type of RPG from the traditional Final Fantasy style, the adventure/RPG Diablo style, and others like Castlevania: SOTN. Some of my favorites include Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, Revelations: Persona, Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete, Final Fantasy: Tactics, as well as others.
2. First Person Shooter- We all know what a FPS is, right? I don't think I need examples. I've naturally become skilled at playing games of this genre and those skills have helped me with other non-FPS action titles. 1. Action/Adventure- For me, this is a very broad genre of games. I'm talking about everything from the Resident Evil series, the Syphon Filter series, Splinter Cell, Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, SOCOM, Grand Theft Auto and many others.

RPGs- I can never get enough of them. If you can think of one, i've most likely have beaten it.
Sports- I play sports all the time with some of my good friends, so this is just a break in between getting tackled by a few people. Gawd bless co-ed tackle football. ![]() Fighting- We even hold tournments of Super Smash Bros. Melee. I end up playing these kind of games for hours when we have like 8-10 people come over.

Action/Adventure: This is a broad genre so it can include a lot. Most of my games fall into this category in some way.
Driving/Racing: Always loved doing things in cars in videogames that I can't do in real life (without serious consequnces, of course.) What a thrill! Survival Horror: Sometimes I feel like my mind is a survival horror in itself so is it any wonder why these games intrigue me? Especially, Silent Hill 2. It's the only game so far that I've played that remotely resembles the kind of dreams I have in mood and other ways. This is also the genre I feel I could write the best story for. Actually, If I'm lucky I might be able to get past my creative relapse and put up a premise for one in fanfic sometime in the future. _RED_ stuff

Let' see.
3. Action or Adventure. Both of these genres offer me a plethora of enjoyment, although I'm not too much on most of the mixes between the two. Games like Max Payne get me hyped up, with all the blood and what not, whereas an exploration oriented Adventure like Super Mario Sunshine (I don't consider it platformer) always get me into a good mood. 2. Fighting. Ah, yes, the infamous fighting genre. It's great enough alone, but when you've got friends or a good speed on an online multiplayer {a la Capcom vs SNK 2: EO on Xbox), it makes it all the better. Learning and executing moves and creating combos is just half the fun. 1. Role Playing Games. Ever since I first played Final Fantasy IV, I've been "hooked-on-RPG.[/i] I continued on with the series, until I opened my eyes and realized *gasp* - there where more RPGs out there. I ventured off into Grandia, Suikoden, Star Ocean, Lunar, and a few others, and I found that these games were just me. |
