This is ridiculously similar to the videogames collection thread, maybe... I don't care if you post photos or a list or just a number to be brief. I want to ask: how many CDs (I mean music Cds!) do you own? Well, vinyls and other formats are also ok to be included! And be careful: I mean the original thing, not copied stuff! That doesn't count!

I own 150, more or less, but some of them were stolen from my brother's collection, duh... I know it's not much, but I buy only when I like something, sooo

Not many to tell the truth. Maybe in the 30-40 region. I have burned many of those. I haven't bought a CD since Meteora.

i usually dont buy music CDs, i just d/l da music n make my own CDs with the tracks i like.

the only soundtracks i've bought are "chronic" and "meteora"

What a clever post McLaren! There's nothing wrong with buying. If nobody buys, then nobody makes CDs so you can't download them either ah ah ah!

Cd bought from the store are at a higher sound quality to ones downloaded off the internet.Like my Creed My own Prison album.The one i downloaded and burnt was playing at 128 bit while the one I bought later was 192.Sounds much better and cleaner.Plus finding 192's on the net is rare.

I only have about 100 CDs but I am trying to update many of my vinyl and tape albums. Unfortunately a lot of the stuff I have is not available on CD.

As for the MP3 issue, I have loads of MP3s. However, if I get enough of a particular album that I like, I go and buy the CD because I'd much rather have a rack of 'real' CDs rather than burnt CDs.

The only reason why I bought Drowning Pools' 'Sinner' and Fear Factory's 'Digimortal' is cos I got most of the album from Kazaa in the first place.

I believe that people who want to buy albums will continue to do so irrespective of MP3s and the net. It's the same for me with games, I'd much rather own the original.

If I download something I like, I'll go out and buy it.

Spank thats exactly how I feel.You get much more joy out of actually going out and buying the album compared to downloading the whole thing.

I have about 40 cds. The only one I don't care for is my Tantric one. I have over 150 songs on my computer and at least 20 cds that are burned. My dad has at leasr 100 and I steal those from him and burn them...but buying cds is the hip thing to do.

I think I would much rather have an mp3 player then a cd burner. But it really doesn't matter. Just costs a little extra.

Well Honestly I don't really buy albums anymore since I discovered winmx! hee hee! Don't get me wrong I'll buy Singles but I dont always like eveything off an album so I download the album see which songs I like, delete it and download the few songs I like! Sometimes if the albums not available I'll just download a few songs I like the title of!

Also I don't really need to buy albums as my boss and boyf like most of the stuff I like so they go buy the albums! They have a collection of um... i'd say about 500 cd's plus about 100 vinyls
aswell so i'm pretty alright in that situation! !!

But if it wasn't for living there I'd only have about 40 cd's!
Albums are so exspensive these days!

Actually I dont own that many cds. I probably have under 10 cds. I use Kazaa all the time so I dont really go out and buy the cds.

I own about 150-170 cds... Been buying a lot lately so i dont have an official count... I still buy cds as opposed to downloading them for the same reason as Hylas said... If you dont buy the cds there will eventually be none... then the artists cant make $$ and its all over. I will download or listen to burns to see if i like something then i buy it.... I enjoy throwing my support behind artists that inspire me and i want them to make more music so that is why i still buy. It may seem nieve but hey... my 16 bucks a cd counts somewheres

I own 200+ CDs, nearly 50 vinyls and dozens of tapes. I like the real thing, because, as SSSnake said, it sounds a lot better than the copied one. And I like original booklets and covers too!

Me too! I just bought the Beastie Boys Anthology set and it came w/ this huge book about them and all their songs... They do sound a lot better as well, just the other day i had to turn up my stero in my car real load to just hear a song i burned(only cause the cd isn't out yet)... I've got 21 CDs. I never really got into the whole downloading music thing until recently, but I only do that just so I can listen to songs I really want to listen to but can't. I will eventually buy the CDs with practically all the songs I've downloaded, just need to get the money. My collection is mainly rap, but I've got some rock CDs.

I actually didn't start buying CDs until about two years ago, and even then, there weren't too many that I was interested in. So as of right now my collection is somewhat building, though at a much slower rate than others.
