you cant ruin your ps2 by trying to run a bad game. most likely, you are just running larger games. if the disk is scratched up and wont run right, it is just because the laser isnt reading it right. there is a chance that if the disk had dirt or dust on it, that the laser is dirty, and you would have to buy a can of compressed air, or a cd player cleaner. if the games still run slow after cleaning it, then it is just because they are bigger games.
