haven't played in a while (about a year?) ... it was addictive to an extent, but it got old fairly quick (once you've played each map - and to it's credit, there are a lot - you're not shown anything new). It didn't feel half as skillful as most FPS' i've played, because it just isn't fast enough. Call me "old-skool", but there was a time when crouching in a corner with a sniper-rifle got you called "camper", or another word begining with "C". Also, the community was a bit iffy... too many people gives a multiplayer community an unpersonal feel. that and the majority of CS players are cheating, unsociable lowlifes.

That said, CS is a brilliant LAN game. But then, you can throw stuff at anyone who's a total ass, and you can hug those who aren't (never tried it. not sure if LAN parties have the kind of people who enjoy hugging...). I'll give it a whirl again when I upgrade to broadband (probably in January), because the steam network is "dial-up racist" at about a 400mb download a pop.
