I think that after Metal Gear 2 : Solid Snake, thats when Solid Snake became the main guy to the public, hence the reason they probably changed the name to Metal Gear Solid. Solid Snake will definiately feature in the game though, and if thats Snake in the movies and pictures we have seen - atleast he has not got an MGS2 beard
