remember that RPGs are pretty intricate and there are plenty of conversations to be translated. The PS2 FFs are even worse in the respect that:
1. The entire script will be proof read several times. Gamers don't like it when their bards are "spoony", their "this guys are sick" and when "all your base are belong to us". And "I Garland shall knock you all down!" is a good example of good english, poorly put.
2. They have Voice Acting. Yes, in theory it sounds like FFX's cast were pulled off the streets and paid with Metholated Spirits, but each session is a lengthy process, and presumably not a cheap one either. And the script will have had to have been finalised before they get it.
Perhaps they could do it a little quicker, but then Square are releasing other games as well (not that many mind..) and the whole distribution of Square games is going to get a knock with the April 1st merger...
